Yep, I love the author Colleen Hoover. She has a few other books that just came out, that aren't part of a series, which I plan on reading soon. Definitely hehe. I love recommending books that I love. Of course, not everyone has the same tastes as I do. BUT I've noticed USUALLY you and I have similar tastes LK :)
I'm listening to
. The plot is meh but the narrator is very good .She does a great Scottish accent .
Lisa Kay wrote: "Wow, ShoSho. You're that far in that series. Good for you."It's my go to series when I want something light on audio while I'm reading something angsty or dark or a mystery !
Lisa Kay wrote: "Hayley wrote: "Just finished
. I absolutely LOVED it.""What of the next book
? I am planning on listening to it because I heard it's prior to their meeting and so it's not a regurgitation of book 1
I haven't had much luck with sequels lately. I prefer to think that their story was finished when #1 was finished .
ShoSho wrote: "I haven't had much luck with sequels lately. I prefer to think that their story was finished when #1 was finished ."It's his story, before he was a TA

Hmm now that's better ! But I'll wait until you finish it and see what you think.
Finished
- I'm really enjoying this series. The ghost story is good and the spirit is really nasty. It takes time to warm up to the main character but the more I read, the better I like her. Now listening to
and reading
Lauren wrote: "Finished

Goody! Hope you enjoy it. Aimée Brunei's narration is fantastic. You can actually feel the atmosphere as she describes everything.

Kirsten wrote: "Who performs it? I have an excellent Audible Original edition with Tim Curry and Alan Cumming. "Yes! That's the one I'm listening to. I also enjoy Katherine Kellgren as Mina. She narrates the Her Royal Spyness series which I really enjoy.
It's a great time of year for it and even though I've read Dracula many times this is my first time listening. I'm loving it! May need to make it a Halloween tradition. :)
Oh, yes, that audiobook of Dracula is incredible with ALL the audiotalent they recruited!Just finished Suspect
by Robert Crais. It's been a long time since I gave a book 5 stars, but this book deserved it.It was not just a really good mystery/thriller, it probably deserved 3.5 stars for that storyline alone. But add in the dog and relationship building and it shot up like a rocket!

Lauren, I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying
. It is similar to The Graveyard Queen series, but a tiny little bit funnier, as Jack and Melanie have a different relationship than John and Amelia. And, as I said, the narrator for this one, Aimée Brunei, is excellent.

I'm always wary about making such strong recommendations because not everyone has the same tastes as me although I know we are pretty much in sync there, Lisa Kay :0)
I also noticed the similarities to The Graveyard Queen although Melanie has a much more "prickly" personality than Amelia while Jack is more laid back than John.
I love Jack and Melanie banter and it is even better in the 2nd book - for some reason, they remind me of a pair of hedgehogs trying to get closer but constantly sticking each other, lol!
Hedgehogs. LOL! That's a good way to put. While it reminds me of The Graveyard Queen, I don't think it is a copy of it. I'm enjoying the story...but I repeat myself. Yes, love Melanie's "prickliness." LOL! I think she is resistant to Jack because he's a tiny bit younger, but at their age - or any legal age - what does it matter now-a-days.
Rest assured; you hit the ball out of the park with this recommendation.
Lisa Kay wrote: "While it reminds me of The Graveyard Queen, I don't think it is a copy of it."The plot grabbed me from the start too. I loved following the clues and the riddles - it was like going on a treasure hunt.
I'm actually not sure why Mellie makes such a fuss about their age difference - it isn't that big of a gap and as you say, they are both well into adulthood. Perhaps it is just a way of showing her insecurity in the romance department.
I image that one is pretty dated by now, ShoSho. I felt that way when I read it - and that was quite awhile ago.
Yes it is dated. It has been renamed ,I don't know if it has been edited or not when it was published in 2001.
ShoSho wrote: "Yes it is dated. It has been renamed ,I don't know if it has been edited or not when it was published in 2001."She revised it in 2001, but it was originally written in 1984.
ShoSho wrote: "Yes it is dated. It has been renamed ,I don't know if it has been edited or not when it was published in 2001."She renamed and republished? I really don't like it when authors do that. There is something underhanded about it :0(

Do you know if she changed the content ? Changed any politically incorrect things?
ShoSho wrote: "Do you know if she changed the content ? Changed any politically incorrect things?"No. Sorry, I don't. Good question. I wouldn't be surprised, though. I do believe she increased the word count.
I do remember discussing a revision with the author Marsha Canham several years ago. Back in the 80's authors were given "guidelines" to include certain types of "seduction" scenes and she was strongly told to include that in a book she had already written. When she revised it, she removed one scene and edited others, and I can't say as I blame her. They weren't as she originally intended. I believe she didn't change the title name, though.Still, if a book is revamped and re-titled, it should be clearly indicated that that has been done.
This is what I found: However, Susan Elizabeth Phillips had this to say about the differences: "JUST IMAGINE is a reissue of RISEN GLORY, which has been out of print for many years. It’s not your ordinary reissue, however, which is why we changed the title. I made substantial revisions—fleshing out the characters of Kit Weston (a total scamp) and Baron Cain (his name says it all), as well as adding new scenes. The book has a special “Dear Reader” letter at the beginning that explains why I decided to polish up the original."
Lisa Kay wrote: "Interesting, ShoSho. So, did the "special letter" reveal anything more?"I read it on Amazon preview . From what I gathered "Risen glory" had politically incorrect stuff in it . So she added some scenes and changed some others to make the story more acceptable for readers.
The Amazon reviews on Risen glory reveals a lot though!
I'm almost done (30 minutes left )and I really enjoyed it .
Ezinwanyi~the Troublemaker wrote: "Hayley wrote: "Reading
right now and loving it :)"great series!"
I KNOW! It's been awhile since I've read the first two so reading this is a good refresher and a great point of view from Will's view :). I'm loving it so far. Of course, I've never read anything bad by Colleen Hoover either! I can't wait to read Ugly Love.
I'm reading
it's fantastic . It's exactly what I wanted for Thronos and Lanthe .(41%)I'm also listening to an abridged version of
,this book is one of my favorites .
ShoSho wrote: "This is what I found: However, Susan Elizabeth Phillips had this to say about the differences: "JUST IMAGINE is a reissue of RISEN GLORY, which has been out of print for many years. It’s not you..."
OK, if the author makes significant changes, I can understand changing the title but as Lisa Kay says, it should be clearly stated on the cover that the book is a reissue.
