Danny (DannyPEgan) | 14 comments I have never cried so hard in my life, i can confidently say that today was worse than my wails in infancy. I had to hide today at work, not because I didn't want anyone to see me reading, but because I did not want anyone to see me sobbing uncontrollably.

In the last 2 months I have read all of the Dark Tower. Not just the 8 actual novels, but most of the novels, novellas, and short stories that have a "direct" connection.

My mind is smashed into pieces all around me, my eyes are stinging, there is a lump in my throat, and all of my thoughts have turned to the "Come-Come Commala" echoing in my head, which sounds like a mix of "Oh Happy Day" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee". Maybe reading them all like this was a huge mistake. I have never so fully, and completely dedicated myself to any series (be it book, television, or film) as closely and totally as I have with the Dark Tower. Today I finished up my journey while reading book Seven at work (having read "Wind...' in its proper place in the timeline) And... I am broken.

I'll give no spoilers, no hints, no thoughts yet. I'm more then happy to wait for you all here at the top and wait for you all to join me. However, I will say this, Stephen King has left me a husk of the man that I once was. And I love him even more for it.

Justin (rockstarintraining) | 1 comments Danny, I started the journey at the beginning of the year, got carried away on my reading plan, and am almost through Wizard and Glass. I just discovered all the related books so I plan to read the series in a similar fashion. I've got IT waiting patiently on my bookshelf and The Stand is calling out to be read again.

I'm glad you enjoyed the journey. I'm hoping for a similar experience.

Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments Feel your pain Danny. I've only read Volume 7 once. This buddy read will only be my second look at it. Gulp.

Stevo (stevop) | 230 comments Finished reading this this afternoon. I took my time with it because its just so bleak and so brutal. The first time I read this I was that kind of person who wanted to get to the end and see what was there, anything along the way I took on the chin and kept turning the pages. On a second, slower read you know whats coming and its just... so depressing.

A great novel and great end to the series. Had a fun time reading 1-7 (including 4.5!) in a row with you peeps and now I think I'm gonna loop back to the books I got for Christmas. :p (Or Mr Mercedes first...)
