Jesus Felix | 5 comments oversized sci fi book about the history of the future, lots of photos, illustrations. It looked kind of like an encyclopedia, saw it around 1997. about 350 pages, couldn't afford it at the time.

Rachel | 1527 comments One suggestion is Yesterday's Tomorrows: Past Visions of the American Future from 1996. On Amazon it has the "look inside this book" feature so you could have a look at the picutres and see if it is familiar.

Jesus Felix | 5 comments Thanks for the tip! I will definitely check this out, I have been looking for this book for decades. Thank you!

Jesus Felix | 5 comments Check that out but it was not it. But thanks for the attempt.
The book in question had a timeline kind of structure. It was speculative predictions about the future like on one page it would say in the year 2036 such and such happened. Then later on, it would be the year 2042 and so on all the way to the year 20,000 Or so. It was endlessly fascinating. Chock-full of pictures and illustrations.

Michele | 2488 comments Another possibility: Hallelujah Anyway or The Second Earth: The Pentateuch Re-Told. Both have gorgeous lush illustration of all sorts of weird near- and far-future things.

Jesus, you can do that by hitting the 'edit' link right after the subject of this thread and selecting the appropriate folder

Great. I think the book was printed as a hardback and a trade paperback, so you may be remembering right.
