Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I was joking...in both posts. Yes it's Link and "Frankenstein's creature".

Beth (bethandluna) | 108 comments I don't do well understanding sarcasm online. You can't always hear the inflection in the "voice" when reading words.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments ...why not???? It seemed quite clear...

Very entertaining mental image xD
Make sure to flush with fizzy beverage after, don't want any bits stuck up there! :p

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I snorted Pepsi out of my nose once. I imagine donuts is even more painful. :-/

Beth (bethandluna) | 108 comments Agreed, never too early. The grocery store by us started carrying a blood orange pop. So yummy.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments ...have always loved Coke. Coke and cold pizza is the breakfast of champions.

Though I do wonder about people who say they "snort Coke"...how do they keep from drowning?

My grandma used to like to put salted peanuts in her coke. *shudder*

message 820: by Beth (new)

Beth (bethandluna) | 108 comments Yeah, that sounds gross.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Hey...I did that. It was the country way to have a Coke (or an RC). You bought a Coke (or an RC) and a small bag of peanuts and dumped the peanuts into the Coke (or RC). If you were really "good" you made them come out even and got the last peanut with the last drink.

Try it.

Beth (bethandluna) | 108 comments We're not allowed to have Coke in my family on pain of death. My grandma is a firm believer in Pepsi. I can't remember what Coke did, but it royally pissed her off, and that was the end of that.

But even if I used RC or Pepsi, I can't see how that would taste good.

That's what my grandma said, too.

She also tried to imply that the reason I didn't find it appealing was because I probably "wasn't Southern enough." *steam* I just thought it was gross.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Its just the salt. People put salt/peanuts/olives in drinks here too. I like olives, but I'll just eat them, thanks.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Unless it's a martini, I don't want olives in my drink.

You must live in Newfoundland. Most never forgave Coke for closing the plant in St. John's. To this day some decades later most restaurants don't have Coke.

Every now and then I drink a Pepsi to reminisce of the time I spent in Newfoundland. Afterward I get over it and realize that Coke is better.

Beth (bethandluna) | 108 comments Becky wrote: "Its just the salt. People put salt/peanuts/olives in drinks here too. I like olives, but I'll just eat them, thanks."

I've never heard of adding anything to drinks like that except fruit and olives. Why would you add salt to a drink? I know they sometimes salt the rim of some alcoholic drinks, but I always thought that tasted gross and prefer sugar.

Homeinmyshoes wrote: "You must live in Newfoundland."

I live in the US in Indiana. They just really made her mad.

How old is grandma? My grandma always told us Coke had cocaine in it way back when. Now if that's true or not... Grandma's always right... Lol. But, true or not it was believed.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yes it's true. Coke was originally sold as a patent medicine. The syrup was mixed with water. A drug store "soda jerk" accidentally added soda water...and it was good.

Of course the recipe/formula had to drop the controlled substances when the laws changed.

message 835: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Coke syrup - or flat coke, if that's all you got - is still good for an upset stomach.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 103 comments Yep! Not quite the same since they changed the original formula.

LOL

As for salt in drinks and such.
It has to be sweet/ salty. The two mixed together makes the sweet.....so much better.
Margaritas for example.
:d

Oooo....and salted caramel!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments When I was a kid I also discovered how good caramels "stuffed" in the mouth with potato chips are...
