Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Our guys don't even get out of the truck anymore. We have cans that are set with the "front" side facing the street. Then the truck can "grasp them", lift them over the back, bang them up and down a few times and then move on.

Ours are like this, too. They will leave stuff in a heartbeat. They also like to toss our cans all around. :(

The guys who kill me are the recyclers. They always seem to come on rainy days and always leave the top of the can open (our recycle cans are city-supplied and come with attached tops).

message 653: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) We dont put out cans here. We have to use blue city bags, so we have to do the can removal.

message 654: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments Yep that's ours too Mike if a couple of bangs doesn't knock it out, they probably never even see anything left in the can.

We have too much animal life for that. It would be a mess. We have one neighbor who didn't want to buy an outside can. He would put his trash out the night before in just a bag.

Ugh.

Every trash morning his trash bag would be ripped open and trash strewn about the street and sidewalk. Normally, he wouldn't pick it up unless it was egregiously bad. Of course, being a dog owner (and thus a walker) it drove me batshit crazy. Have to make sure the dog doesn't eat any of the random food trash... Have to watch every footstep by his house so I don't track gunk into my house.

BTW, he also never blew his grass clippings out of the sidewalk and never shoveled his snow.

GAH!

(Obv I'm not a fan.)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments My daughter talks about that where she works. Her flavored coffee creamer and/or half and half apparently become community property.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Yeah, creamer is a commonly swiped item.

Though we did have someone who had some frozen hotdogs in the freezer once, and someone actually opened up the package and took half of them.

I guess that's better than taking the whole package?

message 661: by Jackie (last edited Jul 17, 2014 12:43PM) (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Maybe a very hungry couple or a family of 4 needed to be fed?

That's a hilarious thing to do though.

We have the creamer and salad dressing thing. Our cleaning folks used to raid our fridge, cabinets and the coffee/tea machine, until one day they got caught. The cleaning lady was in there with her head full in the fridge taking leftover pizza from our party when someone walked in. It stopped after that.

message 662: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Well, the person whose hotdogs they were ended up putting a note on the package for the person to take the rest of them, since they obviously needed them more than she did.

But they never got took, after that...

That's crazy.

I used to work with a guy who had his lunch stolen all the time. So he decided to take fish tank water and make ice cubes. He put the ice cubes in closed bag and labelled it and said "DO NOT TOUCH."

Someone stole some anyway.

But he got fired for putting something that could possibly make someone sick in the fridge.

That is so not fair!

message 667: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Yeah, that's not even right to fire him. He put a note warning people off.

message 669: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) We used to have some really hellacious lunch thieves where I used to work. It was so bad. We had a caterer come in 3x a week, and my shift was later, so I would buy my lunch, stick it in the fridge, and then later I'd eat it. Except one day when I bought a sandwich and a salad and came back to find my salad completely gone and my sandwich had a huge bite taken out of it. Apparently they didn't like my choice.

I was so mad. >_<

message 670: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Now I work from home, so there's only one suspect if my lunches go missing now... >_>

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) It's not really an internet funny, but I think it's still appropriate here. ;)

I got this "Stupidest Things Ever Said" daily calendar, and today's is:

"Such was Catherine Morland at ten. At fifteen appearances were mending; she began to curl her hair and long for balls."

It took me a few to get what was funny about that...
