Andrea Smith | 120 comments 0989825094 (ISBN13: 9780989825092) G-Men Holiday Wrap

This book is still not showing in the grouping with the other 3 books in the G-Man Series on my author page.

The G-Man Series consists of:

Diamond Girl (Book 1)
Love Plus One (Book 2)
Night Moves (Book 3)
G-Men Holiday Wrap (Book 3.5)

Could you please put Book 3.5 showing with the other 3 books in the series?

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Andrea,

I'm pretty sure (but other more experienced Librarians can correct me if I'm wrong) that the reason Book 3.5 is not showing on your author page in the series is because it is not a primary work. Primary works have whole numbers; novellas and shorts get the x.x numbering and are not considered primary works.

I checked this against a series I am very familiar with and only the primary works are shown on that author's page in the series list.

G-Men Holiday Wrap is part of the series and can be seen from the series page.

Monique, If you look at my other series, the 'Baby Lite' Series, the link I've attached will take you to Book 3.5 of that series. On my author page, all 4 of the books in the Baby Lite Series show next to one another. . .

In the Baby series the 3.5 book is a primary work. The 3.5 in G-Man is not.

I've changed Holiday Wrap to a primary. Is it visible now? (or eventually due to caching)

EDIT: on your series page it now looks to be included

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Neither one should be primary, actually. The .5 implies a non-primary work in the series.

True, but we are trying to see if non-primary means 'don't show on author page'. I'll tidy it up later.

EDIT: no, I won't have to.

Andrea Smith | 120 comments Yes, I see it is on the Series page, but my question was on the Author page where you scroll down and see the various thumbnail pix of the covers in each series. For G-Man Series, the G-Men Holiday Wrap is not showing there.

No, I think it won't, as Monique said, because it is a non-primary. I've changed Holiday back to a primary and we will see what happens. I will remove the primary marker afterwards.

Andrea,

That's right. It is not, and it won't since it is not a primary work in the series.

This is correct. No experimentation required.

OK, [puts test tubes away]. Changed book to non-primary. I didn't know that non-primary works would not show on the author page. Now I do.

Andrea Smith | 120 comments Okay so then can I simply change it to Book 4 and will that solve the problem?

As Book 4 it can be a primary so, yes. It will be an alternate cover edition.

Andrea Smith | 120 comments Okay, great. So what do I have to do? Upload another cover and as the Book 4, and then do a combine?

Assuming we are talking about G-Men Holiday Wrap for the moment. You can add a new alternate cover edition for the Kindle with the 'book 4' cover (not changing the cover on existing editions). Same for the ebook. Then we combine them. Easy.

Andrea Smith | 120 comments Yes, that's the book we're talking about. Okay. I'll do that and then respond back.

Thanks!!

Back up a second. Novellas (in a series of novels) are simply not primary editions. If it's a novella (as the blurb says), it should not be numbered as 4, but as 3.5.
