2) I think so. She went in not knowing his past, or anything about him and was willing to give him a fair chance. And because she didn't judge him at first glance I think that was what made him more willing to be friendly with her. Because she didn't just see him as 'psycho-ass'.
3) I think my reaction was close to an 'OHHHHHHHH SNAP'. And I love Sundown's reaction of 'of course we have the Thanatos teflon sitting up in bumfuck nowhere Alaska'.
4) Gah! I don't remember that! I'm definitely going to have to read the book to see that.
5) Honestly, no. Though I don't remember my feelings, I read the book first so long ago.
6) I read the book first about 10 years ago, so I don't remember my reaction but it was likely similar to the one about Zarek not being an official hunter an 'ohhhhhhh!'
7) Honestly? Yes. Though I think she was trusting that if anything went wrong, they would get her out, plus she had Sasha. But she also knew that Acheron wanted her for a reason, and that being that she would judge Zarek honestly and fairly. And knowing he called to her for a reason, she likely was more patient with him, and that enabled her to see that Zarek was more than the bristly outer shell he uses to ward others away. (Something that only Sunshine had been able to see past up till that point.)
8) ...Probably a lot. I personally see them as being friends, I mean he has shown up in Acheron's book, and they seem to have mended from Zarek being 'I hate you, I hate you, I hate you' to 'hey I like you even if you're kinda weird'. I hope to see more of their interactions in the future. Especially since Acheron has hinted that he sees Zarek as being a kindred spirit because of their pasts.
Also he's abused his powers to harass Val, and Sundown, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's fucked with Acheron before.
(Insert mental image of Acheron having to keep Zarek and Simi from killing things.)
9) Ohhhh if it's a lineage thing, then possibly yes. Though if she (Kyra) is Nick's judge, then it would have to happen somewhere down the line (presuming that children of gods/goddesses age like humans). It would likely be awkward for Nick as he knows Kyra's father.
10) they likely vacation together 3 or more times a year. Especially as family is important for both Val and Z (even if it's family born of bond more than blood). Since they rekindled their relationship in Val's book I'm sure that both are going to take the chance to make up for all the lost time they spent hating one another.
As well we see in an excerpt that Val spends time with Kyrian and Amanda so it's likely that he's willing to spend quality time with his pain-in-the-ass adorable little brother who casts storm clouds over his head when he's bored.

Basically, it meant that in order to defeat Desiderius, Kyrian had to have his soul returned to him.
The fact that Zarek still had his soul--and therefore no Dark-Hunter mark--made him the best Dark-Hunter candidate to fight Thanatos.

Basically, it meant that in order to defeat Desi..."
But Dark Hunters don't have souls. From the moment Kyrian got his back, he wasn't a Dark Hunter anymore. And he certainly didn't bring Desiderius down. I mean, the guy showed up again years later and slaughtered Tiyana and Cherise. Valerius is the one who cut off his head. So I don't get it.
In the same scene, Valerius thought of him as "the Daimon", but Desiderius called himself a Dark Hunter. So, since Daimons live on souls, was he the "Dark Hunter with a soul" that was mentionned by the oracles? Which would mean that "to bring Desiderius under control, find the Dark Hunter with a soul" actually means "to bring Desiderius under control, find Desiderius".

1. Zarek, love him? hate him? or just misunderstood?
2. Did you think Zarek got a fair trial/judging while with Astrid in her cabin?
3. How surprised were you when it came out that Zarek wasn't quite a dark-hunter? I.e. Artie never took his soul.
4. What did you think about Zarek's special ability that he used to help Astrid?
Questions about a woman that was more than just a justice nymph:
5. Did you feel that ever since Ash came to Astrid right off and no other justice nymph that she was going to become a pivotal character in this book?
6. How did you first react when you found out who her sisters were?
7. At any point did you think that Astrid was not being as careful as she could be around Zarek when they first met? Even though she had a history of trusting the wrong DH before.
**SPOILER ALERT Questions***
8. Ever wonder how often Zarek pops in on Ash now that he has God abilities too?
9. Since Astrid was a justice nymph do you think that would mean her daughter would have to be too? And if so, do you think she would get the job of judging Nick?
10. How often do you think Zarek and Valerius's families vacation together? Being brothers and all and their wives getting along. Do you think they vacay 3 or more times out of the year or do they just reserve it for the major holidays.
