Bloodlines Vs Vampire Academy

After reading the 6 book series of Vampire Academy following Rose Hathaway then reading the 4 instalments of Bloodlines following Sydney Sage, I am curious to know which series other readers have preferred? Richelle Mead

I prefer bloodlines, because I liked the charcters more (although I miss Rose and Christian) and I also love the way Sydney and the other characters become a family and Sydney loses her distance, although she is an alchemist and she knows that it's a high risk for her. And, yeah I'm a Sydrian shipper. They're just an amazing couple :)

I admit to being totally biased because of my love for Adrian Ivashkov but I prefer Bloodlines. I loved Vampire Academy, it is one of my favorite series, but I felt like the connection between Rose and Dimitri was sort of insta-love where Sydney and Adrian build their relationship. I mean no offense to any Romitri shippers but that was just my opinion.

Now that I think about it,I would go for the Bloodlines series.
I absolutely loved the Vampire Academy since day one. I adored the romance between Rose and Dimitri. Though I found myself disliking Lissa. I always rushed her parts in the books,a problem I didn't have in any of the 4 instalments of Bloodlines. I find Lissa too needy, weak and sort of selfish. I understand that she's a moroi and that 'They come first' but still. I hated the way that she was crying and begging for Rose not to leave for Russia the first time and when Rose did,she went all crazy, hanging out with that bitch Avery. Lissa was her best friend for god's sake:she of all people should have understood the need for Rose's trip. That day,I was aching to smack Lissa on the head and cry "Stop being so selfish, bitch. For ONCE IN HER LIFE,she's got to do something for HERSELF!"
And also I hate the way Lissa treats Jill. If it weren't for Jill, she wouldn't be queen. At least, she should make an effort to show her some gratitude and concern, no matter how awkward their situation may be.

As for the Bloodlines series,I love how Adrian and Sydney's relationship evolved.(The Ivashkinator! <3) I can't wait for the Silver Shadows to come out!

Court It is a tough one to call isn't it. I mean it was VA the drew us in to the Moroi/Damphir world and it was very well written, very creative and all the ...more

Well judging from just the first 4 books of bloodlines and all the other VA ones I'm gonna have to choose... Well.. I ..CAN'T OKEY BOTH!

both

I would say hands down VAMPIRE ACADEMY.
gosh Sydney's character...made me want to throw my book at her face. She acted like a ms know it all and didn't show the smallest amount of bravery(the kind i care for) so i just dropped that series, very disappointed by it.
On the other hand VA is just PLAIN AWESOME.

I completely disagree with some of you. Vampire Academy was just literally the best series I've ever read. I've read all of Meads series (except Gameboard of Gods- haven't gotten to it yet) and VA is hands down the best I've read.

Don't get me wrong, I love Sydney just as much as I love Georgina and Eugenie (other Mead heroines), but Rose is the most badass, funny, interesting, and compassionate protagonist to date. I just love her. Not to mention no male lead in *any book can beat Dimitri in a badass standpoint. None. And I LOVE Adrian. I think overall Adrian's a better character. He's hilarious, hot, and intensely flawed and that's what I love about him- so I'm not biased.

I just think Mead poured her heart and Soul into VA. There is so many round characters and the relationships are just heart-breakers. Not to mention the plot is just 100 times more complex than Bloodlines. There is just no question.

Although I love Bloodlines and Sydney can be a much more realistic and relatable character at times, I still prefer Vampire Academy simply for the plot.

I don't know.... For some reason, i love the Bloodlines series. I'm thinking its got a lot to do with how Adrian and Sydney fell for each other( Never liked how Rose treated Adrian) and how they managed to stay strong. Besides all that forbidden romance? Who can resist, really? :D

I feel VA was amazing in terms of plot and characters. I don't know but I personally feel there was a lot of suspense in VA. Also, VA had larger variety of character (Dimitri being the best in VA and Adrian best the best in BL). As much as I love both the series, in BL there were some things… some ideas that I just couldn't grasp. I also, liked that VA was all based on vampires. When I read VA I just couldn't stop reading and I would read again when I get time, however I can’t say the same for BL. Don’t get me wrong BL was an amazing novel, but it was missing something. But, I still enjoying reading BL series, however VA was way better.

I loved the Vampire Academy series and thought the world of Richelle Mead but couldn't read the Bloodline series because I couldn't seem to imagine the very same scenes between Rose and Dimitri between Adrian and Sydney. She wrote the scenes in the same style, that made me cringe and I just couldn't make myself to continue reading. Also she built up Rose in the VA series and seemed to cut her to size in the Bloodlines series and I didn't like that either. I'd rather re-read the VA series rather than start to dislike one of my favourite literary couples.

I did not like the Bloodlines series. I could not finish the series because it was not worth my time. This is of course my opinion and respect everyone else. But I did really enjoy Vampire Academy. It was a great series and regret that I could not get into the Bloodlines series. I'm sure that Sydney and Adrian did get together in the end. I think that Sydney was the main reason that I could not finish it because I didn't like her character. I found her very annoying, self-centered and acted like she new everything. Princess. She really had no respect for other people and really their feelings even if she thought that she did. I just plain out didn't like her. I think that it is because I am used to reading about girls that have no fear and really go out and fight and be with the supernatural beings instead of looking at them with disgust and cringing away from them. She needed everything her way and that was very annoying to me. Of course like I said this is my opinion and I am sorry that you may not like it and others may agree. I just hated the series and loved Rose and Dimitri's story and their connection. Sydney I could NOT stand or the series.
