Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments This book links to Elizabeth Lee but it needs to link to this Elizabeth Lee. Caisey Quinn works fine. How does that get fixed? Thanks!

Storm Warning

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments Thank you! Now are you able to merge these two as well?

Storm Warning and Storm Warning? With this Storm Warning being the new main one?

message 4: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments Or is that something I can do? I'm sorry for all the questions. :o)

message 5: by Banjomike (last edited Dec 14, 2013 02:41PM) (new)

Banjomike | 5166 comments I've moved the Storm Warning from your first post to the author E. Lee and the same with C. Quinn. The three books are here:
https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

Only the author can change the default edition.

message 6: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments They want all of those to link to Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn, not E. Lee and C. Quinn. Does that make sense? Sorry! You're the best. Thanks for all your help. :o)

Books have to be linked to the names on the bookcovers. That is basic to the librarian job on Goodreads. All the editions have E. Lee and C. Quinn on them and you should not have changed the names and you should change them back.

If an edition exists that uses their full names then we can do something but at the moment the name on the cover is (or rather was) E. Lee and C. Quinn. Is there such a book?

message 8: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments There was. I originally asked you to switch the first book to the right Elizabeth Lee. That meant that one version of the book was Caisey Quinn and Elizabeth Lee. Then I asked to merge the one where it was E. Lee and C. Quinn with the one that was right, but you got rid of the right one. When I go in to change it to Caisey Quinn and Elizabeth Lee, we're back to the very first thing I asked, which is to link it to the right Elizbeth Lee. So I can go in there and change all three of them, but then I'll have to come back and ask you to change them to the right Elizabeth Lee. I'll go do that now and ask to change them to the right Elizabeth Lee.

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments Okay. Can we get all three of these to link to the right Elizabeth Lee? This one: Elizabeth Lee

Thank you.

Banjomike | 5166 comments That is NOT what I meant. Is there a bookcover with Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn on it.

The correct Elizabeth Lee for the book in the first post is 'E. Lee'. If there are no examples of the book with different names then you should stop making illegal changes. The book was published 4 days ago, have they really decided to change names SO quickly. Change the names back.

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments I'll have Elizabeth come talk to you. They co-wrote the book and wanted to keep it separate from their New Adult stuff. But they want the book to link to their normal accounts. That's what the authors have told me. I'm just the middle man here. Sorry.

They still have to abide by the Goodreads rules as do we librarians. Are you intending to change the author names on the the three editions back to what is on the cover?

message 13: by Michelle (last edited Dec 14, 2013 03:35PM) (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments I can do that, but then I don't understand why you were able to change it in my original request. If that's the case, it should have been addressed then. I'll change the names back, but they do want this book to link to their separate, main author pages. How do we do that?

I didn't change it in your original request. I didn't notice that the cover didn't match what you requested. It was only with message 3 that I noticed the error and changed the authors to match the covers. At that point it WAS addressed and fixed and could have been left. Changing the author names in the way you did was not based on any interpretation of the rules and so was, by any defintion, wrong.

Generally authors on Goodreads have pseudonyms for their own good reasons and often want them to be separate. In this case they seem to have decided, very quickly, that they want them linked to their normal profiles. We can do that by having both sets of names on the books (with E. Lee and C. Quinn listed FIRST, then Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn on the end). It is NOT possible to completely remove E. Lee and C. Quinn from the books.

And please remove the new "E. Lee & C. Quinn" author from the books, that is not correct either. Use the correct forms of the names as they should be used.

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments I put it as it is on the book cover. E. Lee & C. Quinn.

Also, this is coming from the author. She messaged me to have this done. Like I said, I'm just the middle man here. You don't have the whole story, and I don't have time for it. So I'll just go fix it now. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

message 16: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments But the original problem will still occur. When I go fix it, it'll link to the wrong Elizabeth Lee. So can I come back here and have that fixed?

message 17: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments Ugh. It's not letting me do it right. Can you please list Elizabeth Lee and Caisey Quinn as well on all three of those books? Thanks.

OK, but be careful doing 'private' requests. Post any issues in this group and you will get advice as to what is and more importantly is NOT allowed.

message 21: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kampmeier (mrsjkamp) | 22 comments That's fine. I want to abide by the rules. But the authors aren't "librarians" on here and generally ask me to fix stuff. Thanks.

Authors can post their requests in this group the same as anyone else can. It is just as easy for them to say what they want in this group as is is for them to PM you.
