Brienne of Darth

message 406: by Laurel (new)

Laurel She is so beautiful outside of Game of Thrones. She must have that ability to morph with hair, make up, and body language/facial expressions.

When you see Ramsay Bolton, do you immediately think "Evil Frodo"? I swear, he looks like he's from the bad side of the shire.

Just me?"

Can't say I have. But now I will...

And on that note, I watched GoT on Sun. with my aunt who has not read the books. She's known most of the twists and deaths beforehand, but (view spoiler)

Truthfully I've been disappointed in this season though. And I hate what they've done to Sansa and Jaime. (view spoiler)

I am curious how they're going to handle the next two books though. In regards to filming they're a mess.

message 415: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Anyone here planning on watching The Strain? It starts on Sunday at 10 pm. Because of the time I might have to watch it Monday.

message 416: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I probably will...though I don't need anymore shows.

message 417: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) LOL. I hear you, but I'm actually looking for something to watch now. I finished up with Orphan Black (love!) and GoT is done, so I have nothing really. I have to wait until the fall to continue watching the other shows. Oh, and the final episode of Vikings...still have to watch it.

Um, yeah I ditched Under the Dome by like the 4th episode. Just lost interest. Still want to read the book though.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Definitely read the book. It's a different animal altogether.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I started watching 'Merlin' recently, and I'm mostly done Season 1. I'm enjoying it, but not entirely hooked yet. I've heard it gets better, though, and I'm enjoying it enough that I plan on sticking with it.

message 424: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Hope it's not like that Camelot show they had on Starz. Ugh, that was horrible.

message 426: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I dunno, I never watched that one - but I don't think so. This is a "family" oriented show, so it's a bit cheesy in places, but in a kitchy kinda way.

message 427: by Gerard (new)

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments It is family orientated Colleen. Its shown a tea time on an a Saturday here. I agree with Chris too that Camelot was awful.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I think my real answer to this topic is..."not much".

I just caught up on this season of Longmire on On Demand last night. Mostly I watch News and reruns of Big Bang Theory if there isn't a movie on i want to see. Just mostly waiting for fall I guess.

I've read the first one and I'm interested in the show. Does anyone know if it's available on Hulu?

I'm kinda grossed out by the worm in the eye ad photo. UGH!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments By the way...your programs were all at my mercy last week...

bwa-ha-ha

I had a Nielsen diary.... I forget how many thousand people I was supposed to represent.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments It's how they get the Nielsen ratings. I've had one twice. They let you know you've been picked and call you to ask how many TVs are in your house. then they send you a diary for each TV. You list all the people in your house and then for a week fill out the diary. You list whatever you watch on whatever station (or on demand) 24 hours a day for the week and who's watching it.

There's also a place for recorded shows and so on.

I've done that before - many years ago. THey came out and put these things on our TVs (that they never removed and we ended up cutting out). It was cool...I guess. They never talked to us or anything. And this was before DVR but they put something on our VCR.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments They don't know what you watch, other than pay-per-view. I understand they stopped using the TV monitors, but I'm not sure. The selection is supposed to be random...who knows?

yeah, I heard they stopped using the attached things. Probably cost too much (since they didn;t come pick them up).

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Does anyone watch Endeavour? It's a prequel to Inspector Morse.

I never really watched Morse, but I did watch the last few seasons of Inspector Lewis, and was interested in Endeavour for the period aspect.

I really dig it, though, and I love Shaun Evans' portrayal of a young Morse.

message 443: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) | 123 comments @Colleen Sure, I've seen Endeavour. I like it; I wouldn't go so far to say I love it, but it's still a nice show (one thing I like is how Endeavour is an opera buff since I love some opera too!)

message 444: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments So, instead of reading this summer, I've been racking up a ridiculous number of hours watching Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a few on Hulu Plus.

1. Glee - My daughter and I have been having a summertime Glee-a-thon, and are now in the later half of the 5th season. This show really isn't just for kids, in fact, I think it stopped being for kids somewhere in the 3rd season. The 2nd season was the best and this 5th season is the worst (IMO), but 1-4 were really enjoyable as a whole, and we are both looking forward to seeing how the story ends.
For the record, all I want is a happily-ever-after for Kurt & Blaine!

2. Downton Abbey - I don't even know how or when I fell in love with this show, I just did! Thank you Amazon Prime!!
Using spoilers more for length than for actual spoilers, unless you haven't seen seasons 3 or 4:
(view spoiler)

3. The Mentalist - I received a 5 season boxed set for my birthday! :)
I really missed watching the show, and am happy I get to see it again from the beginning. I'm not sure where I had left off originally, but I'm just starting season 3 now.

4. Sherlock Holmes - Ohhh! I have two words - Benedict Cumberbatch! That is all!

5. Call the Midwife - This was suggested by Netflix. What a wonderful surprise! Unfortunately, they only have 2 seasons - I can't wait until they add the 3rd. I love Chummy, and I'm so happy Sister Bernadette followed her heart.

6. Paradise - This was another Netflix suggestion. Very interesting, Theres only one season available, though, and I saw it was canceled after two.

I'm also checking out Bomb Girls, Copper, The Glades, and Hemlock Grove.

At some point I want to revisit Bones, Castle, Elementary and True Blood.

Laurel I'm crossing my fingers the rumours that Tom Hiddleston will play a third Holmes brother in Season four of Sherlock are true!

message 446: by Spacechik (new)

Spacechik | 47 comments Oh, yeah!! I second number 4. The Glades was wonderful. The last one...before cancellation...it should have been the penultimate. No spoilers here.

Both hubby and I are enjoying The Glades. We've finished the first 2 seasons. I read somewhere that it ended on a cliff hanger. I hate when that happens, it almost stopped me from trying it in the first place, but curiosity got the better of me.
