Laurel You love Orphan Black?!?! That makes me so happy!

I've heard it's good, but haven't had the chance to watch it. I think some of the people involved in Sherlock were involved in producing Musketeers, but I could be mistaken. Still, I'm crossing my fingers. Walking Dead is on hiatus. Dr. Who isn't back for a while and Face Off ends next week. I need something, dammit! I may even go back and start watching a Game of a Thrones on DVD. The fourth season previews seem enticing.

Yeah, I don't like those shows either. :(

Lee | 939 comments Fargo is a great movie - :)

I used to be a movie buff. Years ago. Now? I watch about 5 movies a year. If that. I did watch Frozen a few weeks ago and was surprised by how much I liked it. I'm a fan of Disney/Pixar but the last few movies were disappointments. I actually fell asleep during Tangled...

8-12? Did they come?

message 305: by Ala (new)

Ala | 469 comments I'll have to give musketeers a shot.

And I never watched the Fargo movie either. Didn't know it was a show now.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Fargo is a show now? huh...so is From Dusk Til Dawn.

Yes, he came at 1:00, MrsJ. He's still there now. If he knows what's good for him, he'll have me able to watch GoT tonight.

I'm so sick of all the online spoilers for it....

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I once adopted a dog who had been deserted by his owner (we won't go into detail as the guy came back and demanded the dog and I had to turn him over. the dog subsequently disappeared. I assume the guy [who was an alcoholic] allowed him to end up taken by animal control). Anyway, the dog was big. He looked frightening but was one of those big puppy types. He loved everybody...except the cable guy. I had to sit and hold his collar when the cable guy was there.

Only an hour late. How convenient.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I've been watching more of AHC. They're covering a couple of the Nam battles tonight.

Won't be watching much this weekend as we have church "stuff" both days. A service at 3:00 tomorrow followed by a potluck. Then a "brunch" instead of Sunday morning classes, service and then the regular free lunch we serve on Sundays (we get a lot of homeless).

Do catch the movie. It's so good. The Coen brothers do some very strange things, but funny. They did Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Millers Crossing, No Country for Old Men, The Big Lebowski, and others. The TV show is produced by them. I almost turned it off after the first 5 minutes, but then I was hooked. DVR is the best thing since (your gadget here)!!

message 311: by Felina (new)

Felina I'm starting my education on Dr. Who. I'm starting with the David Tennant episodes.

Laurel My boyfriend decided to try watching Orphan Black, because I love it so much. His sister, who lives a city away, decided to do the same. Space, our Canadian version of SyFy was showing a marathon of the 10 season one episodes leasing up to the premiere of season 2.

Boyfriend episode 1 - I don't know, it's okay. They're laying a lot of ground work.

Boyfriend episode 3 - I guess we could watch another one. It seems like it could be good.

Boyfriend episode 6 - Well, we need to watch them all today so you can see the new episode...

Boyfriend episode 8 - okay, we can't f@cking stop now!

Boyfriend's sister's texts:

"I'm on episode 4 and am already hooked!"

"I love Felix and Alison!"

I can't post the rest as they're too spoilery. It took us until 2:30 am to watch all the episodes, but he HAD to make sure I didn't miss my episode ;). His sister has already texted twice to talk to me about what happened. They've been texting about it all morning.

I've created 2 monsters

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments Ive never watched Orphan Black but laurels description of how it hooked her man and sister I decided to check to see if it was airing anywhere over here. BBC is showing the first season over the next five nights.

message 314: by Felina (new)

Felina Really? I'll be recording that!

message 315: by Gerard (new)

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments Yes BBC3 is showing it from 2.15 am. I should have said I'm in Ireland.

message 316: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I try not to over hype things. I've had Casablance ruined for me that way. That said, it's worth a try. It sneaks up on you!

I won't say anything more!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments I'm just trying to get into Black Sails (is that the name??) - too much of this stuff is on premium tv. :(

message 318: by Laurel (new)

Laurel What is premium TV? Another non-Canadian thing most likely?

message 319: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments Laurel wrote: "What is premium TV? Another non-Canadian thing most likely?"

HBO, Starz, etc. Those channels. Black Sails is on Starz (and we don't have Starz).

Not sure about Orphan Black - but I'm sure its on something like that, too.

message 320: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) You can find out the channels for Orphan Black here:

message 321: by Felina (new)

Woo hoo!

Felina, I think it's available to watch online as people are becoming interested in it through word of mouth.

message 324: by Felina (new)

Felina Online where?

message 325: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I typed in "watch Orphan Black online" and found a few sites.

http://www.sidereel.com/orphan_black

The above site had all of the episodes. But, I know that some sites like Hulu work in places like the US but won't work in Canada. Do you know of a reputable site for your country?

message 326: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Oh! I looked around a bit. I thought that www.space.ca only had the most recent episodes, but they have all the episodes commercial free!

message 327: by Felina (new)

Felina Cool. Thanks Laurel!!

message 328: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Since we were forced to give up Dish and get cable, we now have Starz as part of it. So I'll be watching Black Sails.

But I lost the entire final season of Breaking Bad by losing Dish.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Watched 'Seven Psychopaths' with dinner tonight. It was kinda awesome. Weird. So very weird. Kinda funny, kinda sad, very meta and fairly effed up. Me likey.

Jer gives it 3.25 outta 5. I'm gonna go 3.75.

***

Before that we binge watched Supernatural all day, and we're finally caught up to current.

And now... withdrawal.

I might try and find Orphan Black on amazon.

Jackie (thenightowl) I watched episode 1 of Orphan Black. I have the same reaction as Laurel's boyfriend. I need to watch another episode to decide, but it's definitely different and interesting.

message 337: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'm curious to hear your opinion after episode 2 or 3 ;)

message 338: by Kara (new)

Kara (sterlink) | 74 comments I mentioned it to the hubby last night... Since I'm not paying for HBO this season (& my sisters HBOgo account keeps failing over PS3!?#!) I imagine we will be checking it out soon.
