Especially compared to the TV show? Meeeeeh.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I really wouldn't call Firefly underrated now. It was when it aired, certainly.

message 254: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments Firefly is very (very) popular among a certain crowd but ask an average group of random people what Firefly is I bet they couldn't answer. So -

My favorite cancelled show was is and always will be Pushing Daisies. I positively absolutely adored this show. And from the first moment it was love at first sight.

I went through a Twin Peaks faze. After it had gotten cancelled. That was one freaked out weird show.... but I liked it! Hate how it just ended though.... (view spoiler)

I loved Brisco County Jr... and Bruce Campbell.

Oh - I also loved Millenium. I actually liked it more than X-Files. It was a darker (much darker) show.

Another voice for Carnival -

And that's all I can think of right now...

message 255: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments My husband and I really liked Pushing Daisies as well, and we were disappointed when it was cancelled.

The (new) Dark Shadows (effing cliffhanger)
Kindred: The Embraced
Moonlight

Um... and not just because they're all vampire stories... :-/

message 260: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I don't think I've even heard of any of those.

I haven't read of them, either.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Well, you're the reason they were cancelled. Duh.

message 263: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments I've never heard of another fan of the Dark Shadows update. I loved that show! I tried watching the original and I couldn't get through it - sacrilege I know.

And... Yes... One of the worse cliffhangers ever.

Did you watch the vampire show Forever Knight? So very campy -- but I used to stay up half the night just to watch it on the weekend.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Re: Dark Shadows - I loved Ben Cross as Barnabas. And I never got much into the original, either.

And, yes, I loved Forever Knight. It was huge with me and my friends when we were in high school. I had a thing for Janette. And Vachon. :)

I even wrote my one and only fanfiction set in Forever Knight, and submitted it to college for entrance into their honors program. Amazingly enough, they still let me in. (I read it years later and cringed so hard. LOL)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I think it's hard to appreciate the early Dark Shadows now. I was in high school and it was the heyday of "THE SOAP OPERA". When it started it was just a sort of period soap (very low budget) but then the supernatural elements started to be added. Most of my female friends (and quite a few of my male friends though they didn't admit it) were watching it over the summer. My mom and most of the other "mothers" were watching it if they were into soaps.

So it got to be the proverbial "cult hit" and it's still around. It's probably hard for people today to see the charm, but it was big.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Wow. I have the Dvd set for Kindred: the Embraced. Great show.

The dude that played Daedalus was on The Walking Dead this season.

message 267: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments I understand that - it wasn't like today when you can turn on the tv anytime in the day and find something supernatural. It was definitely different in its day.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yeah, we got 2 TV stations. Dad refused to get a UHF converter so we could get the third. Oh and only black and white. Dad never got a color set till I'd left home.

I think that's when I started reading a lot more, actually.

Erk, I'm so old I'd tell you the same stories. I'd add that we had to get up to change the channel too.

My mom and grandparents always had a remote: children.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I'm pre-remote to. I remember when I saw the first one of those "clickers" that were the first remotes. Funny to think of watching things back then just to watch TV. Most of the time I can't find anything to watch now and I don't even know how many stations I get get...north of a hundred.

There's never anything good on TV.

Except last nigh! Men in Black came on. Love it!

OMG yes! I loved that show. After that, anytime Geraint Wyn Davies would turn up in another show I'd squee and yell, "It's Nick!" and everyone would say, "huh?" and I'd explain and still get blank looks. For a while, I was really starting to wonder if it was a magic show that only I could see. One time, a friend said, "You mean the one with the car?"

I mean, really.

message 279: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments I loved the BBC show Primeval. I think it was one of those shows that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. But I liked it when it stuck to the basic formula of - Dinosaurs running amock - fun show.

Spacechik | 47 comments FOREVER KNIGHT!!! I had forgotten about that show but it was one of my favorites as well!!! I was interested in Fringe the first couple of seasons and then I think it jumped the shark. SYFY channel itself has jumped. (sharknado, really?) MOONLIGHT was a good show as well. Too bad it was shortlived. I read more these days.

Yeah, I was really into Fringe at first then it just got weird. Some of the choices they made with the show just caused me to lose interest.

Moonlight was awesome, too! Forgot about that one.

I miss Sliders. I loved Sliders. Not sure why I suddenly thought of it, but yeah.

message 283: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments Fringe reminded me if what happened with X-Files. Both started out as fun shows with a pretty basic science fiction premise that got too big for itself. Too crazy.

Don't even start me about Lost -

Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge.

I'm not really into the challenges but instead I love the things they come up with.

Plus they keep showing snippets of things like The Dark Crystal.

It's like my childhood meets the future.

I watch Face Off on Syfy and I keep seeing this advertise. I keep meaning to watch it on demand. I love puppets. Not creepy scary puppets... no no no. But furry cute little puppets I love love love.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I'm waiting on the cable guy to get here and set up our tv and internet.

I'm so tired of being without. I can get on with iPhone, but the main thing that had done is spoil all the shows I've missed while waiting.

message 291: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Face Off is one of the 3 shows I watch religiously, (and I'm enjoying Jim Henson's Creature Shop as well). My guy watches a bazillion different things, but 3 times a week I actually get the remote of the big TV and watch, watch, watch!

*sigh*

The rest of the week I simply read :)

But, The Musketeers are finally coming to a Canadian TV station. Perhaps I'll be up to 4?!!!

What kind of window did they give you?

I hate those stupid service windows. It's like and entire day. They might as well say, "We'll show up when we decide to show up. Or not."

I am regulated to DVR only. So I watch my shows when none of his shows is on.

message 295: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Well, I kinda do that, too. But whenever I'm watching my shows, PVR or live, he is pretty great about making sure I'm undisturbed. I think he wishes I were more of a couch potato with him. I just HATE all of his ghosty shows!

message 296: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments The window is 8-12. He just called and said he's on the way. Falling outside the window, of course.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments True. I remember a movie where the continuing gag was that one of the villains could never show up somewhere because the cable man was coming that day.

Laurel, hadn't heard of The Musketeers so I looked it up. Looks like it might be interesting...but Cardinal Richelieu is Doctor Who. Peter Capaldi's going to be a busy guy.

message 298: by Laurel (new)

Laurel It's 10 episodes per season, like one of my other shows, Orphan Black. Short shooting schedule?

I think it was a favorite project of Capaldi's.
