Yes, I watched Making a Murderer, nearly binged it, and it rocked my world. I could not believe... just watch it. Don't look up anything about the outcome if you can help it.
The hype and praise are deserved.
ETA: I expected the documentary series to be about how a wrongfully convicted man is turned from good to bad by time (18 years) in prison. So I went in with my typical approach to "true crime" which is to watch with critical eye, with logic not emotion because I'm very logic- reason-based person. But by the time the third or fourth episode rolled through I was exasperated -- literally talking to the TV. Whenever I discuss it with anyone online (no one in my life has watched it yet) I have a physical reaction -- my stomach knots up, nausea, eyes watering -- which is so unlike me.

Yeah. The first episode is called "A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear" ^_^

LOL!

I watched the first half last night. It was pretty good, but I had issues with (view spoiler)

This seems to be a new trend with new shows. Releasing episodes early to draw in more viewers. The Expanse did it last month. I wonder if this all got started when GoT "accidentally" had a leak of 4 episodes last year. Maybe they can more easily gauge popularity by counting downloads?

This is right. I watched Episodes 1 & 2 last night. 1 & 2 is one long download together on the app and then 3 & 4 are separate episodes.
Anyway, coming from someone who has not read the books I really enjoyed the first two episodes. It actually makes me want to pick up the books. There is a bit of CW-ish acting on it from some of the actors (the blond boy elf...can't remember his name right now, in particular), but overall it's pretty well done.

I got the X-Files Bluray set for Christmas.

Sculley's shoulderpads..."
I spit the food out of my mouth on that. Thanks. :P

My daughter (who will officially be a teen in one week) would like for the two of us to start a tradition of watching mother/daughter-friendly shows together.
Usually, we watch things like Bones, Person of Interest, and the like, but she gets tired of all of the death and sadness, after a while. We also enjoy shows like Leverage, Burn Notice, and just about everything else from USA.
The only show I can think of is The Gilmore Girls which I've never seen, but I've heard is very good. We will be trying an episode or two tonight.
Are there any other suggestions? We must be able to watch it via Netflix or Hulu Plus, and preferably from the very beginning.
Thanks in Advance.

Jose and the kids use Chromecast a lot, when they can't use one of the game systems. Its really easy to set up and use.
I personally prefer Apple TV, but end up watching most of my shows on my Mac anyway.

I like Lie to Me a lot. Ends kind of abruptly in the third season (I think), but most of the eps are fairly stand alone. Should definitely be on Netflix.
The Librarians is fun, probably on Hulu, and has one of the guys from Leverage.

Yeah, we watched all of Lie to Me. I was sad that it ended.
I was interested in The Librarian when it came out, but just sort of lost track of it. I will definitely see if we can watch it from the beginning. Thanks. :)

Thanks! :)
I'm watching the seventh and final season of True Blood right now. I love the violence, the social satire/commentary and the cool Southern setting & atmosphere of this series. Sadly, many people avoid vampire-themed movies and series these day's, because Twilight fucked it all up and gave vampires and werewolves a bad reputation.

I wish I had some good recommendations for you but I'm not much of a TV viewer. Most of the shows I watched regularly are things that my mom got me into (meaning they are pretty old) like M.A.S.H., Are You Being Served? and Keeping Up Appearances.

But then I finished reading it and was sighing with relief.

ETA: Also, I don't remember, but in the books I think Quentin was graduating High School and going into college in the beginning? Maybe I'm remembering wrong though? In the show he's graduating college and going into grad school. It makes more sense as grad school though, so it that was a change I approve.
ETA Again: Also, I've never understood why they change the names of characters in shows that don't seem to need to be changed. I was trying to figure out who the eff Margo was and then I realized it was Janet. I don't get it.

I think it's over now but you might be able to catch reruns of "Hart of Dixie" ? Takes place in southern Alabama.

Loved True Blood, but didn't like the last season or that it ended! Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books were awesome until the last one too. That's what the show is based off, but I think around season 3 they completely disregarded the books and I really wanted to see the Shifting Tiger :(

Your previous post completely overwhelmed me! LOL
We have, or I have, or Jose has, or Jose and I have watched quite a few of those.
I am one of those die-hard Firefly fans that's still pissed that the show went off the air, even though I enjoyed Castle when I watched it.
I'm surprised that The Killing would be good mother/daughter viewing ... I would expect it to be very dark.

We tried that one..I liked it, but she didn't.
But thanks. :)

Castle ? Nathan Fillion is in it and it's more of father/daughter but there's crime.
Fillion is a crime novelist and he works "shadowing" the NYPD.

I loved Castle! Not sure if I've watched it with her, though, so that can go on the list. Thank you.
We've seen Firefly all the way through. :)

I also noted your changes, and they made sense for the tv show. As far as the Janet to Margo switch, I really don't know. Maybe they thought viewers were too stupid to keep Janet and Julia apart because of the "J".
Though I had more trouble keeping "Margo" apart from that girl that Penny was with. Who was she, btw?

It is dark but it's a nail-biting, edge of your seat, can't stop watching mystery. The series has a (view spoiler) ending which I liked.
My 16 year old daughter and I watched Fringe together (back when it was on TV).
I raised that kid on X-Files lol. I have the complete series on DVD and I've rewatched the series so many times over the last 14 years it's kinda embarrassing. She and I were glued to the TV for last night's premiere. I almost shed a tear at how excited she was to get to watch X-Files live like how I got to watch them all back in the day.
She and I also watched Psych together. However, that's probably a show best viewed by those with at least some exposure to 70s, 80s, early 90s pop culture. Now we re-watch all the Psych seasons together. We alternate between Psych and Parks and Recreation for our buddy watch time when we want something funny. :)
Right now I'm watching the complete Dexter series on DVD and already reached season two. While I quite enjoy the series, I had a few problems with its moral code/message first. After all, I expected the protagonist of a series about a homicidal psychopath to behave more like a homicidal psychopath and not like a homicidal justice warrior.
