colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Speaking of TV, just found this site that makes leather coats from TVs and movies (and celeb appearances): http://thejacketmaker.com/

Some are pretty cool. (I'm digging Aeryn Sun's long coat, but Selene's from Underworld is to die for: http://thejacketmaker.com/Underworld-...)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) | 123 comments The currently airing shows I'm watching at the moment (non-anime) are Constantine, Last Man Standing, Hot in Clevland, and Family Guy; besides Constantine, which is new, I was a fan of all those shows before the current season; finding new shows I enjoy is tricky. I watched the first episode of Galavant with my parents the other day and none of us liked it, though I hear positive things about it most of time :-/

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Shit's really going down in Agent Carter after last week. Definitely curious to see how it gets wrapped up in the next two episodes.

Ala | 469 comments I'm gonna miss Peggy. But I'm looking forward to Coulson and crew to come back.

message 558: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I don't know how I can manage to wait until next week for the finale, let alone to see if there is a Season 2?!?!?!?!

This is the superhero TV the little girl in me has ALWAYS DREAMED OF!!!

*sighs*

Gotham was also bleeping amazing :)

message 559: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I get excited about things.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yeah...I'm in withdrawal waiting for Grimm to come back on March 20.

I've come to the conclusion that some writers and TV producers are junky dealers.

Ala | 469 comments I gave up on Gotham after the 4th episode or so. Penguin just annoys the shit out of me.

I'm really loving that show.

Laurel Ala, no!

I will want to give you polar bear hugs. Even though you make me sad.

Perhaps the hug will be more for me. (I love Penguin)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I might give Gotham a try once the first season is on Netflix - if I'm looking for something at the time. I couldn't really get behind the conceit of it, and I've heard very mixed reviews.

message 567: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments So, we didn't have anything in the queue on Monday night, so we started watching Gotham. We've seen the first three episodes...

I'm not really sure what I think so far.

I'm finding the tortured, traumatized Bruce Wayne interesting. It's like, we know the story but I've never really thought of the specifics of his teenage years.

I feel like the cramming in of the various personas is a bit thick, but I was warned about that.

The guy that plays Gordon is good.

But, like Ala, I am finding the Penguin annoying.

Also, the method of killing in the third episode - (view spoiler) - made me think of Adam West's tenure, tbh.

I do like the aesthetic, though... the way it's modern but also sort of classic. It gives it a kind of timeless feel.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I agree that Cat looks part feline - great casting there. I'm kind of annoyed that they're forcing the whole "Call me Cat" thing, but that goes with forcing the characters in general. (Like the intro of Ivy. Um, Poison Ivy's name wasn't actually Ivy... )

And the "No more riddles, Edward!"

I'm sitting here thinking, "That was just a question, not a riddle, moron."

*ahem*

I have heard that a lot of this smooths out later on, though, so I'm willing to give it a few more episodes.

message 569: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments A little disappointed in the Carter finale. It was an ok episode, just seemed a bit weak for a finale. And I kept getting annoyed with people. (view spoiler)

Do hope it gets picked up for a second run, though. Still have to actually (view spoiler)

message 570: by Ala (new)

Ala | 469 comments Was a bit disappointed too. The fight scene with Dotty was better than expected, but the conclusion of it was meh.

Did like the flight scene, though. Callback to the first Cap movie.

I hope ABC picks it up as its own series next year.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Sleepy Hollow - (view spoiler)

Gotham - Watched two more episodes, and Jeremy actually picked it to watch over Justified, which is surprising (though Justified's been a bit meh this season, which is sad).

It's still a bit anvilicious, but seems to be getting into a bit of a stride. Even developed Harvey a bit, so he's less one note.

McKenzie really makes the show, though, imo.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I read the other day they were talking about making a TV show based on the Lucifer comics.

"Oh, really? That could be cool... "

Then I read further down the article where they said that they were talking about turning it into a police procedural where Lucifer helps the LAPD solve cases or something.

"Wait, what? But... WTF?! WHY?!"

My husband is watching Backstrom. God, I dislike that character.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Caught up on Agent Carter on On Demand last night. I went back and forth on it a while but I think it would make a good series.

Surprisingly, hubby doesn't want to watch that one. He's not a fan of the aesthetics.

message 585: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I think I would prefer it to stay a short series.

But, then, I find that the more I watch British TV the more I've become partial to shorter seasons in general.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I was talking to a friend yesterday (who lives in TX, as noted I don't seem to have any friends nearby who enjoy what i do). He said he thinks it and Agents of SHIELD both suffer from the "there might be a suoerhero in the story". In other words people kind of know the superhero tie in and are disappointed when none shows up. I suppose Gotham might be included in that to.

That's a good point. I think that could be part of it.

Expecting more. At least, I expected more.

message 588: by Ala (new)

Ala | 469 comments Well SHIELD will be getting its own superheroes soon. Maybe even some cameos for their actors in later Marvel flicks. And if they connect SHIELD to their Netflix shows(daredevil, jessica jones, iron fist and luke cage), theres chances of cameos from there as well.

Peggy though, not sure what heroes could show up there.

message 589: by Mike (the Paladin) (last edited Mar 03, 2015 12:42PM) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Well, not superheros but I did like the commandos showing up. I date back to the inception of the SHIELD comic (by the way when SHIELD started in the '60s it stood for Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law Enforcement Division). Dum Dum Dugan was a "founding agent" along with Nick Fury. Of course they've changed the entire Nick Fury character arc so...

(view spoiler)

I came back and put that under a spoiler tag in case someone hasn't watched the series.

message 590: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I'll take any little bit of Peggy I can get. Another 8 episode arc would be amazingly! More Dum Dum Dugan and the boys, yes please! Personally, I'm okay with the superheroes keeping to the big screen for now (sorry, I haven't seen SHIELD). My Peggy is more than enough!

Although I'd love to read some fanfic where she and Jarvis run into the BBC's Sherlock and Watson. Damn, that would be fun!

message 591: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I liked Carter, don't get me wrong... but I think the biggest issue it has was that it had 5-6 episodes worth of story that it stretched to 8. (And, as I said earlier, I thought the finale was a bit weak after a reall good 2-episode build up.) I did quite enjoy the episode with the Howling Commandos, though, and Jarvis is a peach.

For Shield the biggest issue it had in the first season was the first half of the season was a hot mess. It didn't seem to know what it wanted to be, and Skye was way too Mary Suish, and then they had to drag that out to do the Capt. America tie-in after that movie release got pushed back.

The finale of Shield S1, though, was freaking awesome and made up for a lot of the missteps earlier in the season.

message 592: by Ala (new)

Ala | 469 comments The mid season finale for SHIELD season 2 was pretty awesome as well.

Isn't it a regular station TV show? It should be On Demand, right?

But I don't know - I don't really watch a lot of TV. Seems like less and less each year.

message 595: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I don't watch very many either, and those I do, (sadly), tend to be short 8 or 10 episode runs. But I'm not sure how On Demand or other such services work here in Canada. A lot of the time we have to either buy the DVDs or get something like Netflix.

I don't mind. If a show is good, I enjoy seeing it again.
