Yep. That's the truth.

I think the first and second seasons were good.

message 453: by Gerard (new)

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments Aye its like a show just waiting to be put out of its misery.

message 454: by Felina (new)

Felina I feel like they aren't even trying.

message 455: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I think we watched through season 4 ((view spoiler)) Am I right about the season #?

I hated Maryann's story line - It went on way too long! - But other than that, I enjoyed what I saw, up until the point that I didn't. Still, I like Sookie, Lafayette, Eric, Pam and Sam plus I'll tolerate Bill (He tended to run hot and cold for me), and Alcide is always nice to look at. so I'm interested enough to see where this all ends up.

message 456: by Gerard (new)

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments Only character i can tolerate now is Eric. Jason used to be funny but now he just needs a punch lol

This show really isn't just for kids, in fact, I think it stopped being for kids somewhere in the 3rd season. The 2nd season was the best and this 5th season is the worst (IMO), but 1-4 were really enjoyable as a whole, and we are both looking forward to seeing how the story ends.
For the record, all I want is a happily-ever-after for Kurt & Blaine! ."

We just completed the 5th season and the series up to date. I actually enjoyed the season finale. It was really well done, and almost complete enough for a series finale. Although, I know hard core Gleeks wouldn't have found it satisfactory and I, personally, really do want to see Kurt and Blaine get their "happy-ever-after".

message 458: by Paul (new)

Paul Great British Bake Off starts this evening. Hurrah!

message 459: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments I do love cooking shows. :)

message 460: by Paul (new)

Paul Bake Off is definitely one of my favourites. Very polite, calm and relaxing. In the spirit of the show I have not baked cake but have bought some...from a shop :-)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments More and more I find less and less to watch. Considering what my daughter pays for cable (she pays for cable I couldn't afford it) I'd think I should be able to find something i want to watch anytime day or night. I mostly watch Big Bang reruns (though frankly not that often, I've seen them a lot now). On weekends I watch Bar Rescue (if it's not one I've seen several times). I keep an eye open for action movies (I don't already own). There are a few shows I plan to watch when the new season starts. The Strain is okay but the whole serializing a book is a little slow.

Maybe I'm just hard to please????

When i just want to watch TV I sometimes watch AHC if they're not running something I find stultifying. I watch the military stuff.

I don't know...help!!!!!

Maybe I'm just too old. I remember when no network would even consider putting on the crap they call, "reality TV".

message 462: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments my enjoyment of reality TV is pretty much only cooking competitions.

And now that I don't have cable any longer, I tend to rely very heavily on what's available on Netflix or Hulu.

message 463: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments I don't watch a lot of TV either - most of the time I'm just not that interested.

Mike, have you checked out Face Off and/or Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge? I think it's fun to see how they make stuff.

message 464: by Paul (new)

Paul I tend to mostly watch drama box sets but I do like cooking shows too.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Thank. I'll see. Maybe I'm just hard to please???? :)

message 466: by Charlene (new)

Charlene (booksfan2002) Actually I don't watch tv as much due to lack of creative writers these days. but whenever I do watch tv I watch Grimm, Hells Kitchen, The Dome, and hopefully if its any good, The Flash:)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yeah I'm waiting for Grimm. I also like (at least so far) Black List. I've kind of gotten into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Oh and also Person of Interest. So, some hope for the coming season.

message 468: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments I love Grimm. We also never miss an episode of Castle.

message 469: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I still have 5 episodes of Grimm from last season to catch up on. Ugh.

SHIELD was a bit sketchy at first, but the finale was epic and totally made the rest of it worthwhile!

message 470: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I've been watching Merlin on Netflix. I'm just about the middle of season 4...

I like it, but it's hella formulaic.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yeah. I also like Justified, but there's only one season left.

message 472: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I love Justified!
I can't wait to see the final season.
I'm sad to see the show go, but I understand why it must.
Raylan's luck can only last for so long. ;)

message 473: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (last edited Aug 07, 2014 07:31AM) (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Yeah, I figured last year this would be the last season when they set it up for (view spoiler)

message 474: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) HBO is showing old episodes of Rome and it makes my heart happy. I forgot how much I loved it.

message 475: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Rome was awesome. You'll have to pick out all the actors that ended up on GoT.

Jackie (thenightowl) Chris wrote: "Rome was awesome. You'll have to pick out all the actors that ended up on GoT."

LOL! Yeah, I was doing that last night. I didn't mean too, but the thought would pop up "hey, this person looks familiar!"

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Well, the Big Bang cast got their raises so the show can start shooting now....

message 478: by Michele (new)

Michele | 11 comments I am loving TV in this age. Current favorite is True Detetive, Season 1. Seems influenced by Peter Watts and his Blindsight characters.

Love:
Game of Thrones
Hannibal
Person of Interest
Falling Skies
Murder in the First
Walking Dead
The Killing (now on Netflix)
Justified
Masters of Sex
House of Cards
Mad Men

Older (on Netflix and Amazon)
Stargate Universe (YAY!) and other stargates
Battlestar Galactica
Breaking Bad
Fringe
Dead like me
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The Fall
The Returned
The Wire
The Tudors

And I know I'm forgetting a bunch more

message 479: by Nyssa (last edited Aug 07, 2014 08:56AM) (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments Dead Like Me was fun as was Pushing Daisies!

The Killing is on my "To Watch" list. I'm also interested in Masters of Sex but have to see if I can find it online.

I could not get into: Game of Thrones, Mad Men, House of Cards, nor Breaking Bad.

message 480: by Gerard (new)

Gerard Quinn | 165 comments If anyone is going to watch the killing id recommend the original Danish one. Its awesome. The remake in my opinion was awful.

message 481: by Spacechik (new)

Spacechik | 47 comments I LOVED both of those shows: Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me. Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) is now on Halt and Catch Fire which I also like a lot. Interesting, Nyssa, I couldn't get into the others you mentioned either. go figure.

The Finale is TOTALLY worth muddling through the seasons.

Great minds, I guess ! ... ;)

Speaking of which, thank you for mentioning Halt and Catch Fire! That sounds interesting. Hubby & I will check that out. Looks like we can stream them on AMC's site for the next 3 weeks.

As for Merlin, I'd been meaning to go back and finish the series, but I heard a spoiler (view spoiler) that made me reconsider.

message 484: by Paul (new)

Paul I know it's not the coolest thing to like but in the last few months I find I've really got into what I call "gentle" detective series. I guess when I say "gentle" I'm contrasting with more gritty detective series like The Wire, NYPD Blue or Taggart. I really enjoy more escapist detective series that don't depress me :)

Recently been watching Sherlock Holmes, Poirot and Midsomer Murders and now I'm on to Foyles War. Really nice to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and watch one of them :)

message 485: by Leland (new)

Leland (lelandhw) | 63 comments Midsomer Murders is one of my favorite series. I also really like Inspector Lewis.

message 486: by Paul (new)

Paul I've seen a couple of episodes of Lewis and enjoyed them. I like how it seems to keep the spirit of Inspector Morse but also be its own unique thing. Its on my "to watch" list.

Love Midsomer Murders!

message 487: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I got into Lewis, and then they went and cancelled it. I've never tried Midsomer Murders.

message 488: by Mike (the Paladin) (last edited Aug 09, 2014 12:52PM) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Used to watch it with my wife. I kind of liked Midsomer Murders.

message 489: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I love Sherlock and Poirot! I'll have to find the others and give them a try. Thank you :)

message 490: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments So, I just finished Merlin.

My feelings about it are... complicated. It's like equal parts love and hate.

(view spoiler)

Anyway - ultimately, I did like it more than I disliked it, but I sometimes found myself avoiding episodes because I know everyone was going to be stupid and I would just want to smack some heads together!

3.5 all told

message 491: by Chad (new)

Chad Spencer (chad_spencer) | 1 comments What am I watching on TV? Lots of Japanese anime. Can't find anything really original on US TV any more.

Best I've seen so far is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Extremely well written. I like the interplay of lots of different characters. Intense scenes mixed with sudden binges of humor.

Good fun.

message 492: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Have you tried Orphan Black?

message 493: by Kara (new)

Kara (sterlink) | 74 comments Watched the first two Outlander episodes while at a hotel (we don't get Starz), but I enjoyed them. A few mentioned here I'll have to look up (Halt & Catch Fire and Midsomer Murders). Also watched most of the first episode of The Knick - interesting, but not really my cup of tea (I'm not into medical shows, but I liked the historical/scientific aspect of it).

Anyone watching The Strain? It's a little "ick" at times for me, but it's had a good start to the season, and I enjoy The Walking Dead so was looking for a replacement in the interim.

message 494: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I've been watching The Strain. Haven't seen last week's episode yet.

It's pretty decent. But I don't know - I'm not in love with it.

Spent a good bit of the weekend watching old episodes of That Metal Show.

message 495: by James (new)

James Parsons | 4 comments Not too much currently. Waiting for new Lost Girl, American Horror Story. Did watch most of Almost Human, and it was not too bad, but just also not fantastic.
Catching up on odd episodes of LEXX, Stargate-any Stargate when it appears (I am sort of new to it) saw some of Helix but then lost interest.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Started the new season of Dr Who with the new Dr. Looks like he'll be a good one.

message 497: by Kara (last edited Aug 25, 2014 06:24PM) (new)

Kara (sterlink) | 74 comments Yes! (Dr. Who) I'm only 45 minutes in... (view spoiler)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Everybody said that....I get it to.

message 499: by Amrutha (new)

Amrutha Patil I was watching Hannibal but the second season ended. And I would start watching the upcoming ncis season but I really dislike the new girl so probably not. I can't wait to start the newest season of american horror story-creepiest show ever.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Never got into Hannibal. Liked Black List and Person of Interest, maybe a few others.
