Science was Willa's first class of the day. She was so excited she had gotten up extra early and had the classroom all to herself giving her the advantage of watching everyone else file in groggy but alert for their first day.While she was most interested in the class material and how it would be taught in this new school, she bounced between scanning her new open textbook for clues and the faces of each kid as they entered. There were kids of all different ages, she was surprised to see one as young as eleven or twelve.
She started to see a difference in the kids she assumed had been here a few years, and anyone new. The new ones had the same wide eyed panicked look she was sure she wore as well. She smiled knowingly at a few of those hoping to convey a sense of kinship and kindness. A few smiled back but most ignored her and she saw no one she had met on her first day. Discouraged at making new friends she turned back to the text and the teacher waiting for her to start class.
Eli quickly ran out the front door to the front of the building, he knew he's been gone a few days but he'd hoped he'd still have made it back in time for his first class. Not that he knew where it was... he'd been lost and sick from the moment he stepped in the hallway so he decided to go in the window someone had pointed to for him as soon as he's come back.He hhad sent a vine crawling up the side to the building while he ran over to it, the vine didn't take long before it had reached the window and Eli grabbed it and let it lift him up as he moved it around with his mind to both open and climb inside the window.
When he finally stumbled through the window he grinned at himself and petted the vine allowing it to slither back down the side of the building, then turning he noticed that other students were still coming into the classroom so not many had noticed him.
Stunned Willa had just witnessed a boy crawl through the window behind here. She had sat in the front row by the window so she could be in the warm early morning sun when suddenly the one behind her opened and who but Eli had crawled in and on a vine! It took her a moment to gather her wits, everyone else had be acting so normal that seeing this had reminded her here was a very un-normal place. She was however very grateful to see Eli, he had been gone a few days and she never got to find out how he had fared that day. He had also been very kind, full of energy and shared a power kin to her own.
Coming out of her thoughts she remembered she should say hello to see if he even remembered her from the cafe. Turning completely around all she found she could managed was a small stunned "Eli?"
Eli heard his name coming from the front of the room and realized not everyone had missed his entrance, although the call was rather quiet and slightly familiar.He was still sitting where his vine had dropped him so he couldn't see many figures or faces, but when he turned to the voice, he could see Willa sitting in front of him, looking a little stunned.
Eli jumped to his feet and looked over at Willa with a grin, next he dove at her with a hug, he wasn't one for formal greetings and he'd met Willa before so he thought it completely normal. However with her sitting down and looking stunned the hug became a little difficult
"Oumph" was the noise that came out of Willa as Eli wrapped her in a very awkward hug that she was not expecting. "So... um hey." She sputtered as she tried to dislodge herself. "What have you been up to? You seemed to have recovered from the other day but I did not see you around." She peeled off a leaf that had transferred itself to her sleeve during the exchange and started twirling it between her fingers.
When Eli pulled away he was still grinning, he sat down next to Willa so the class could get started easier and then he turned to her, "I just kinda disappeared, had to do something" he said reaching into his pocket and pulling out a block of Graphite and another block of wood, he turned to them for a moment as he began shaping parts of it into a new pencil, he turned back to her as it continued morphing, "what about you? how've you been?"
"It has been really interesting" Willa replies. "I met a few other students and explored the grounds, it is quite beautiful here, so much greenery, gardens, forests, a river. Its like a world unto itself.""You are looking much better. I was worried the last time I saw you you looked very ill." She was facinated at what he was doing making his own pencil? "Did you want to borrow a pen?"
((maybe you could have gone to find or get a thing to help you stay inside longer cause you wont make it through the day.))
((haha but that's part of the fun of his character :P can't get rid of that))Eli nods as she explains what she'd been up to, he'd always loved even just talking about greenery, he finished making his pencil and stashed the materials back into his pocket holding up his new pencil with a grin, "na, I should be good" he pulled out a notebook and began writing some science related notes as to test the pencil, "sorry for making you worry too, I just... get sick when I'm away from nature" he said trying to explain how he felt
"Oh wow, you get sick? That is terrible." Willa could not imagine becoming physically sick so quickly as she had seen him do anytime you were inside. "Are you going to be okay for the day? the classes are just under an hour each with only 10 minutes between them." Looking back at her notes from her reading she was wondering what kind of things you would have to do function. "Maybe you could carry a plant or some earth with you? Just so you could last a little longer. Or maybe you just have yet to adjust. Did you live in the wild all the time before coming here?"
Even though she felt best when alone she had to adjust when there were lots of kids around her, and she always found herself trying to help them when they had a problem. This seems to carry over for her to all these new people she had met here. Concern for others seemed to help her deal with being around people more than she wanted.
Eli shrugged, "carrying plants around does help a little, but not all that much, I'm sure I'll find some way through the day though" he said trying to give a reassuring smile."and I did live my whole life in the forest, but my mum... and my dad couldn't live in the forest without her" he said not really wanting to talk about it, "ether way this place is better then the city thing I started in not too long ago, I got really sick in that place" he explained remembering the big move
"Well I am glad you are doing better." Glad to have a friend and not be alone, Willa settled in to her seat, pen paper and book out ready for whatever this and all the other classes bring.
Savannah stepped into the nearly full classroom, her science books in hand and ready to be read.She noticed a few new students that she recognized, such as Eli and Willa.
Smiling and nodding to a few returning students who had waved to her, she slid into one of the front seats next to Willa.
The teacher was just starting to get everyone's attention when Savannah sat down right next to her! "Hey Savannah," she says softly.
Savannah nodded, smiling in her direction. Instead of giving a proper introduction, she flipped her science textbook open to the first unit and glanced back up at the teacher, waiting for the next instruction.
Smiling Willa turns back to her book as well. The teacher starts to go over the introductions and what they will be doing for the year. She marks of the chapters she should read first and does her best to keep her attention but she drifts off a bit, looking out the window from time to time.It is such a warm beautiful day to be inside, she missed her homeschooling already because they would be outside on such a day. She also glances at her two companions, Savannah so absorbed in every word and Eli drifting off a bit also.
Savannah jotted down notes, ever so slightly wishing she wasn't there.She stuck sticky notes on the pages they were to read that night, and wrote a few more notes on the year's schedule.
The class came to an end, as kids started shuffling there belongings into bags. Willa closed her book and smiled once again at Savannah, hoping to have a cheerful interaction again. She had at once gotten over her initial fear of the older girl and wondered briefly why everyone else seemed to have such severe reactions to her manner. "So what is your next class Savannah?"Willa's day is off to a great start, only one stray leaf, and that a hitchhiker from Eli she considered a gift.
Eli raised himself and moved closer to the window not really wanting to go through the halls, "I got English now" he said with a grin, "what about you?"
Turning back to Eli she replies "Geography. Are you going to go through the window again?" Concern entered her voice as she worried about the dangers associated with doing so.
"I've got English, same as Eli, I suppose," Savannah replied, replacing her books in her bag that she had slung over her shoulder. "If you're planning on going through the window, watch the briar patch, alright? And Willa, you know your way, I trust?"
Eli chuckled a little, "I don't really want to go through there..." he said looking over at the hallway, he stepped onto the windowsill and waited for the vine he'd connected his mind to, it slowly slithered up the side of the building and stretched its way around to the English room, "I suppose I'd see you later" he said with a smile, "and you're welcome to come this way if you're heading to English"
"Yea, I guess I will head to my next class, have a good day, maybe I will see you both again." She finished packing and headed out to her next class.
Savannah gave her a wave, figuring a proper departure wasn't appropriate at this time."No, thanks, Eli, I prefer to take the stairs," replied Savannah, nodding in his direction and stepping out the door.
Eli shrugged then stepped out the window, he fell onto the vine and landed with a grin, just being outside felt better and the feel of a vine under his feet was unbeatable, and so he walked along it towards his next class
Roni comes into the science classroom- she could sworn she had some of these classes with Alex; maybe the schedules has gotten mixed up or something. She hadn't seen her yet but she'd at least hunt her down at lunch so she'd have someone to sit with. She wondered how her day was going. She had already forgotten yesterday's events. That was already an improvement friends were good to have she supposed. She sits down and listens as the teacher talks about the class. Once the period is over she stands and unceremoniously continues to her next one.
Aidan walks into the classroom- this one had taken a bit longer to find. He was just comforted by the fact that lunch was after this and he would get a break from all the classes. It was still morning and yet he could hardly process all the information he was taking in. Learning like this was definitely going to take some getting used to. He takes a seat in one of the desks; looking around the room. He'd never really been interested in science but the equipment around the room made it look like a laboratory in a way. He sighs to himself chances were he was going to break a lot of things in this class. The name Mrs. Trimarchi is written on the board and he has a feeling that over time the name will be on plenty of detention slips for accidentally setting things on fire.
Matt drags himself into the science class, ready for another lecture on being absent the day before. He heads straight to the science teacher. "Well, go ahead." He says grimly. The teacher looks up. "Go ahead with what?" Matt cocks his head to the side, puzzled. "Go ahead with the lecture for not being here, for being 'improper' and 'impolite'." The teacher smiles. "Take your seat, Mr. Williams." Matt heads to a desk, scratching his head in confusement.
Alex smiles as she walks into the room. She had made it early this time. She loved being early, only so she can take a seat in the back. She snatches the seat in the back corner and slouches, bored.
