After the amazing reception our last selection received at the meeting yesterday,(The Light Between Oceans), this may be a tough act to follow. When you finish the book, please post your grade on it, on a 1 to 5 scale, 5 being the best. Thanks!

If anyone needs a copy of this book, please let me know. We may be able to share if we know there's a need.

Linda | 190 comments I read this in Jan 2012 and gave it a 4. It breaks your heart, but I felt it was well written and a good story. I need to read my notes on it again, but I'm pretty sure the group will like the book and enjoy learning about the meaning of flowers.

I finally finished The Language of Flowers and I loved it. Being a gardener and a flower lover all my life, it felt like it was written for me.
I always have a weakness for any story about foster children as well. So this novel had it all. Being a child who was abandoned at birth, and lived in the foster care system until age 18, Victoria was bound to be a complicated, unpredictable person. I think the author captured this beautifully and crafted an engaging, believable story around her.

I gave it a 4 as well. Mainly because I thought it had a weak ending.
For anyone interested--our book club gave it an average score of 3.6 on a scale of 5. It made a very interesting discussion too.
