I'm sure I will! :)

Nice idea, Kate! I'll discuss it with Soph when she gets back... perhaps we could set a group read for a couple of weeks from now. :) Of course I will have finished it by then, but people do need time to reply to the group read invite, and I for one will not mind rereading it in the slightest. :)
What would you think of a group watch of the series? Not right now, of course, but maybe in a couple of months?
(P.S Loving the book! Up to Chapter 3, and it's beautiful, though Henry Lennox annoys the hell out of me. I started reading the night before last, in the very first minutes of the new year).

Welcome Manda! Glad to have someone new join the group. :) If you're looking for something else Austen-esque, have you tried Georgette Heyer? I've recently discovered her novels (through a few Richard Armitage narrated ones ;) ), and I'm enjoying them immensely.

Haha, I see I've caused quite a stir! For everyone's information, Richard Armitage has narrated Sylvester, The Convenient Marriage, and Venetia, all of which are lovely. :) I bought them off iTunes myself, but I'm sure there are other ways of getting them.

@Manda: Venetia is such a beautiful story, isn't it? I do so love Georgette Heyer's novels (Venetia was my first), and I think Richard is a brilliant reader, to say the very least. :) You don't need to thank me for the suggestion - it's always a pleasure to share my love of certain books with others - but you are so welcome nonetheless. If you do ever get the chance to listen to The Convenient Marriage, I'd love to hear what you think of it. :)
@Sarah: Welcome to the group! :) I hope you have a wonderful time here. Everyone is very friendly, unless you make the mistake of insulting Fitzwilliam Darcy's name in front of Soph... :D

@Manda: Sorry for the long time it took me to reply, my internet is simply abominable at the moment, and I suspect it will stay that way for some time.
Well done you for buying all three! :) I'm surprised that you found it painfully awkward to hear his performance of Horry at first. I own it was a little... strange, I suppose, but by the time Horatia and the Earl of Rule met (so sweet, that scene!), I thought the way he depicted her quiet little stammer was the most adorable thing in the world. And you're quite right, the ending... *sigh* So perfect.
I am very glad I suggested them too, to know that others are enjoying them like I did. :) I take it you only have Sylvester left to listen to now? It is probably my least favourite out of the three, but it is still very good. Not to mention Richard's rather more countrified accents for some of the characters can be very amusing, I thought. :P

I'm listening to Sylvester currently. Its definitely not my favorite because I feel it takes a LONG time to get going but the fact that the character writes novels, well it's such a *novel* idea for an 19th century romance tale!
Anymore suggestions for me? I'm up for anything. I will devour pretty much anything lol. (Please, dear God, let Richard Armitage narrator some more in the NEAR future!)
Manda wrote: "Omigosh, @Becca: I so LOVE The Convenient Marriage and you know, after listening to it 3 more times, I've come to love his interpretation if Horry! You know what really sucks... is these authors ha..."
Oh, I am so, so glad to hear you say that! I've listened to all of his audio-books anywhere from 3-5 times now... for obvious reasons I just cannot seem to stop listening. I'm even more happy to hear that you now love his interpretation of Horry - do you not agree it is the most adorable thing? I've seen some reviews where people complain that the stammer is tedious, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
You're right, that is extremely annoying! I can just imagine the wonderful life Horry and Rule must have had after the story ended, not to mention Pel's adventures, Charlotte maybe getting married, and Elizabeth's story... Personally I'd like to see how Rule would get on as a father. :) Very well, I should think.
Those were my sentiments exactly, it does take a very long time to get started - in fact, in one place, I felt it to be almost boring. I'd like to know what you think of Sylvester's character when you're finished listening to the story. :) If it's any consolation, the book does pick up after that slow period, becoming almost exponentially better. Also, what do you think of Richard's accents for the characters in this one? I find them very amusing myself. :D
Well now, I don't know if I've any more suggestions... what kind of suggestions would you like? If you want Austen-esque suggestions, I would say Amanda Grange's Diaries of the Austen heroes, or The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen. If you want a suggestion outside the Regency era I'm happy to oblige you in that as well. :)
As to our dear Richard Armitage, I believe he has narrated some small Robin Hood stories to go with the Robin Hood series he was in. (Incidentally I've ordered the full t.v. series, it arrives in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!) Here's the link to the first book, I believe there are six:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
*goes to iTunes to check if they've got any* :D
I know my Dad is planning for us to listen to audio-books in the car every day when he takes me to university in the morning. I don't know how I will bear being able to listen to anyone but Richard reading a novel...

How provoking. iTunes only has two Robin Hood books that Richard Armitage has narrated. One would hope that he had narrated all six, but evidently not... *sigh* Ah well. I shall have to make do, and I'm sure anything narrated by Richard will keep me happy. :)

Oh! How was the ride to Uni? Was it awkward listening to RA and swooning (perhaps) with your dad in the seat next to you lol!!
Manda wrote: "@Becca! Decided not to buy the Robin Hood ones. Might consider it though. I did listen to a snipet of "The Lords of the North" by Cromwell which RA narrated. Not bad, if that's your thing. Saxons a..."
I've bought and listened to one of the Robin Hood ones, and I'll get the other one at some later time. The one I listened to yesterday was very good, I thought. :) Thanks for telling me about "Lords of the North", I'll check it out.
Haha, Uni doesn't start for another two weeks, and when it does I doubt my Dad would even listen to anything Richard has narrated, Georgette Heyer. He has no taste. *rude noise* :P As I say, I'm sure listening to lots of novels not narrated by Richard Armitage will be universally dull.
In any case, I generally manage not to swoon when I listen to Richard reading, I just tend to... smile a lot, I guess. :D

Hello! Lovely to meet you. :) *waves back*
Haha, yes, Richard Armitage being swoon-worthy tends to be the general consensus. And in terms of the dwarf question... I actually think he looked quite handsome as Thorin, but in a very different way than he usually does, obviously. :P Anyway, I suppose it's good to have a change once in a while.

Hi Abby, welcome to the group! I hope you enjoy it, and the group watch. :) I'm very excited. I'm looking forward to discussing things in the group with you, we're very lucky to have you. :)
I'm sure you will be able to, we're all very nice, though perhaps over-fond of teasing... As Soph will tell you very vehemently, if you ever mention Fitzwilliam Darcy. :D

:D You're welcome to mention Fitzwilliam Darcy - only difference is how you mention him. I'm sure Kate and I would be happy to welcome you into our war against the ridiculousness of Darcy's first name, but on the other hand Soph might just explode if you joined our side. :D Otherwise there aren't really a lot of do's and dont's around here that I can think of... Though saying anything against Richard Armitage would probably land you in unpleasant straights. :P Otherwise, nothing! As I said, we're all very nice, accepting and intelligent ladies who simply love North & South. :)

Hehe! I wouldn't dare say any cross word about Richard Armitage.
Great! I guess I'm in with the good ones then. ;)
Cannot wait to watch and discuss with everyone!
*giggles* Well, we can wait until everyone knows how awesome you are before you join the war, then. If you have a look at the Thornton vs. Darcy thread - at least I think that was the one - you'll see the incredibly amusing history of that particular argument. :D
Haha, I know you wouldn't. :P Especially not after hearing me talk about him for the last century.
Indeed! I'm so glad you've joined us. :) <3

Oh, I'll go read, then!
Haha, never would I betray you like that.
<3 I'm glad you've invited me!
:D I can't wait to hear what you think of that particular argument! I'll be eagerly awaiting your opinion. Unfortunately I shall have to return later and see what you thought, because I have to run now. *sigh* Its one of my awfully busy Monday afternoons, you know how it is. :(
:) I know you wouldn't. Teehee.

As Becca said, you can mention him but it depends how you mention him! In a good light then talk away! Fitz D ... Really? No. Just no.

I look forward to seeing your catch-up replies. :) I'll reply to your private message tomorrow, with some new ideas among other things... but right now, it's past midnight, and I have to go! Otherwise I won't even get six hours sleep! Eek!

Hello Abigail and welcome! :) I hope you will enjoy this group, it is really great! I'm sure you will love the movie, it is so great!! :)

I'm glad you joined Qnpoohbear, it's nice to see you here!! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE fantasy and medieval things.
Welcome Rachel! It's lovely to have you here, you sound very enthusiastic, which is great! I think you might be about our youngest member, too. :) I also love fantasy and medieval things - fantasy is one of the main genres I read.
I was thinking of planning a Group Read for sometime later in the year, perhaps in a few months, if everyone else is willing. That might be a nice opportunity for you to read the book with the rest of us, don't you think? :)
