Now that I think about it, I haven't seen Legalos in the book either, so, I'm going to assume he wasn't in the book and was just put into the movie as well?

Elysia wrote: "Now that I think about it, I haven't seen Legalos in the book either, so, I'm going to assume he wasn't in the book and was just put into the movie as well?"Yes. But it makes sense, since he's the son of Thranduil.
Yes... It actually makes sense that he was there. But all these random Galadriel cameos that keep popping up? And that Frodo cameo in Unexpected Journey had no purpose whatsoever.
Naw, it didn't, except being sweet. I liked that Frodo cameo. It didn't mess up the story, as it was just from the beginning of the Fellowship, and Elijah probably had fun doing it - getting to go back into Middle Earth. And it sort of reminded you that this is the same world as LOTR. I know some people get annoyed that maybe it was just to hook the LOTR-fans, but I thought it was sweet.

^^ Agreed.
When they are going to be in Mirkwood and the ruler of said locale has a son who appeared in the other movies(as a rather popular character, I daresay), then it would be unbelievably down-to-earth :D.
Hm. I have to concur(*cringes* Being an agreeing machine is irksome, I know, but at least it's genuine?) Frodo's cameo was pretty sweet to me.
Well, maybe.
i thought i t was amazing aswell and i did think it was better then the firsti don't much get scared of horror movies but when i saw Smaug i was freaking out i was actually scared of him absoloutly amazing. Peter Jackson has done it again
Smaug was FABULOUS!!! (like me...) I was literally melting every time Smaug talked, I was like "Benedict... It's Benedict's voice..."
Anyone else wondering how they're going to make another movie? If you look at the book, there are only about fifty pages or so left, right? (Although I might be wrong. Haven't re-read it in ages. Shame on me.)
There's the whole Battle of Five Armies thing to go, and the Arkenstone, I think? Or did they mess that part up . . . it's been a long time since DOS. Plus they'll probably add a whole lot in. :P
Wow. I really forgot half of the book. But now I really want to see the next film, which is great. :D
I hate how they ended it! I loved the movie, but now they are going to make a third movie from one book!
WordlesslyAmazed03 wrote: "Nope... Just a horrible sense of loss, realization, and finality."Sounds wonderful. Something to look forward to. XD
I thought the fact that they had four different cliffhangers was artistic genius, but I'm a bit disappointed in how they showed Laketown. Rohan looks midevil. Gondor looks midevil. But Laketown looked like it was done in a twisted Norse/Victorian style. No offense to PJ though.
It looked very medieval (from what I know of medieval towns), and I'm not sure there's a whole lot of description in the book. It brought to life everything I expected of it and extra too. :)

Normally it does, but they didn't add Tauriel just for romance, they added her because of the lack of female characters in the book.
"Guys, guys, listen. I know what they do in the book. Forget the book. We're gonna make a giant gold statue that melts and dwarves, who are very familiar with fire, gold, and dragons are gonna actually be stupid enough because movie plot reasons for a few seconds to think that melting a statue of a dwarf is going to do anything other than turn Smaug into a sparkly golden princess. Great idea, right? Who's with me?"*entire board of The Hobbit raise hands*
But in all seriousness, I enjoyed the movie. Not necessarily liked it, but I enjoyed it. The barrel-riding scene was perfect. I didn't like it anywhere near as much as the first one, however. And the Smaug/Bilbo wit battle was done so perfectly I thought I was going to cry.
The rest of the movie was kind of "Action! Excitment! Ahh! That Wasn't In The Book But Who Cares! Action! Whoooo! Romance!"
