Blame it on the Mistletoe by Eli Easton

Easton succeeds first by creating two very different characters from Superhero. Fielding is is a wunderkind, but he's not really a nerd. Mick, the jock of this tale, is far more the nerd of the two.
The major downside of this story for me was that we don't get to see the friendship between these two build. Instead, we get it summarized for us in little anecdotes told to us by Mick, our narrator.
Again, Easton divides up the agency fairly so no one character has to shoulder the burden of moving the story forward.
Full of truly clever writing, delightful phrasing and more sweetness that a basket full of kittens, this is a great little holiday read.
Easton is a warm, crisp loaf of bread among the stale and dried out husks of the other authors of this genre.
