i write the story first, and then go back and fix it...but that's because i think about every single sentence extremely carefully before I wrote it down. I'm a very careful writer, and I write it very slowly. After I'm done thinking about the sentence, I chew it up and spit it out a few times before I write it.

Also, try writing a biography, or something, because then you don't need as much inspiration or imagination and it also is great practice.

I can't write a biography...mainly because I don't remember anything. But also 'cause i would bore myself.

ooh i love when ideas come from songs ... for soul stealer i was partly inspired by that evanescence song, "bring me to life". i didn't really get the idea from it originally, but once i discovered that the song matched perfectly w/the story, it sort of helped my ideas flow a little more. it was awesome! ;D

I also like watching CSI and other crime fighting shows, and it inspires me. Or reading about crazy people in the newspaper. XD

yeah i love when songs give you ideas!! i got the idea for outcast from "mother nature's son" by the beatles. that's how the idea first came to me, which is awesome XD
Hmm, I usually get ideas from random things that people say. Or from thoughts that cross my mind (I do a lot of thinking during mindless activities) and I recognize as great ideas.

OMG THAT"S EXACTLY WHAT I DO!!!!!!!!
I'll have one idea, and then another, and instead of writing a new story, I try to incorporate it into what I'm currently writing. Often this means I write Ch. 2, then Ch. 1, then Ch. 4, etc.
AKS- to answer your question~
I have novels in the works, but I've only ever written short stories. So, truthfully, I have no idea. Even my two novels, one is about 5,000 words, the other less. I'm just beginning both of them. I think a great way to get rid of writers block is to just keep writing, even if it's complete crap. Then go back and fix it later.
So yeah, that's my take on it.
