There's a scene where Celaena and Sam are at a party ( I don't remember who's party cuz I read it along Time ago but I think it was Leighfer Bardingale's ex husband's) and Celaena is drunk and she dances with this masked nobleman who is describe with dark hair and really blue eyes, before Sam interrupts them. Does anyone else think that nobleman is Dorian? I remember him (as in the nobleman) asking Celaena what her name was and Celaena replying (obviously drunk) something that went like "I am wind, air(something like that). I have no name."
so I just read that scene and I am also convinced it was Dorian but considering he was wearing a mask and she was drunk, I doubt Celaena knew or remembered. Dorian on the other hand, I'm not sure. that's twice they've met prior to Throne of Glass so far. Hmm...
It was Dorian. There is this short scene called The Captain and the Prince, where Dorian and Chaol are trying to decide who will be Dorian's champion in the competition and he mentions he was at a party of a woman from Melisande, with Chaol and others, and he was wearing masks and probably danced with Celaena Sardothien :)
So toward the very end.. right before Celaena is taken to the royal dungeons to await her hearing.. she has this last exchange with Farran..' "You would have been delightful to break," he told her, and strode from the room, motioning to three tall, well-dressed men as he passed. Not petty guards. She'd seen those three men before. Somewhere - at some point that she couldn't quite recall..
One of the mean approached, smiling, despite the gore pooled around her. Celaena glimpsed the round pommel of his sword before it connected with her head.'
Does anyone know who these three men could be? I've been racking my brain and for the life of me I can't figure it out.
Probably not the king, Aedion would never do that, I doubt Ren would, Chaol had an eagle pommel, can't be farran (duh), definitely not any fae, not a guard, aand....uuuuh...HELP ME NARROW THE LISTmight be arrobyn, a former client, pirate lord, or another assassin(s)
It's definitely a clue that Maas left as to who betrayed her, aside from arobynn obviously but he didn't act alone. Definitely could have been Rolfe lackies, I don't think it would have been Rolfe himself.
Or my thought is maybe the three assassins that held sam while arobynn best Celaena.. I believe atleast 2 of them were the ones talking outside her door before she went after Farran.
Former client yes also true. Haha trying to find a group of three in my next read through.
At the end of the third Novel, when she paid Sam's debt and left Arobynn's room, she met three men. I think they could be the same. The revenge of Arobynn was currently underway
So it really WAS Dorian and Chaol at that ball! I really hope the three of them have one of those "I've met you before!!" moments. It would be so funny and awesome and then Chaol could know who Sam had been <3

I'm new to ToG, but I just read that scene and it is definitely Dorian and Chaol at the party. I got so psyched! Celaena describes the masked "nobleman" as blue-eyed with black hair and also mentions Chaol's brown eyes. Dorian was also flirtatious and winked at Celaena while leaving. UGH! I wish Sam didn't get in the way.

Yeah Dorian definitely did that. you gotta remember this was before Throne of Glass, so Dorian would've been even younger and maybe a little immature bc it was before all his character development.
SOMEONE HALP!!! I DON'T WANNA READ THE ASSASSIN AND THE EMPIRE BECAUSE I GREW ATTACHED TO SAM!!! BUT I MUST PERSIST!!!
Tristen.. I felt the same way. Then, I read it. It's not that bad! They don't describe Sam's death... In too much detail...
MillieS02 wrote: "I have a question. Is The Assassians Blade have all novellas inside? Or is it a huge other novella?"Actually it only has 5...It doesn't have The Assassin and the Princess and The Prince and the Guard
Lexie wrote: "What's the Prince and the Guard?"sorry I meant the Assassin and the Guard
(kinda got mixed up with the Selection novellas)
I'm rereading ToG and I got to the part where (view spoiler) He refers to her as "Queen of the Underworld." Do you think that title refer to this part of her life/the novella?
He might have. Celaena was famous by her name, they just didn't know what she exactly looked like or her age but only that she was female.
Alia wrote: "There's a scene where Celaena and Sam are at a party ( I don't remember who's party cuz I read it along Time ago but I think it was Leighfer Bardingale's ex husband's) and Celaena is drunk and she ..."**SPOILERS**
It is, if you read the The Captain and The Prince, you'll see that Dorian remembers dancing with a beautiful woman, but he doesn't know who she was. He suspects it might be her.
