From what I've gathered from spoilers, I know Clarisse becomes kind of a softy to certain people and Annabeth begins to use her emotions rather than logic.
I actually already read the Heroes of Olympus and the characters are more in depth. I am going to finish this series for Nico. He is introduced in the next book.

Okay. So that gives me hope. After all it's only two and the half books left. But maybe it'll take me more time that I assumed ;)

I am a Nico fan girl. He spends most the series as an emo stereotype, but he grows the most as a character.

I completely agree about the characters being flat!! I have hope that it'll get better though, everyone goes on about how great these books are. The gods are a bit black and white too, though not as much as the main cast

Wait. I had a brain error. I know who Nico is! I just completely forgot that Nico is Nico 'cause you're talking about Bianca's brother right?! I LOVE THIS BOY.
I don't really read much about him yet in books but I unfortunately spoiled myself while reading about him somewhere someday and who his parents are and from that moment I fell in love with him. You know who his parents are, right? (I don't want to spoil Victoria with gender of god-parent) I just can't wait to read about it. (I've actually started book 3, I'm just waiting for Victoria to start it and then we'll continue together)

Yep, that's Nico. I adore him.
I think the gods are supposed to be sort of flat and predictable. They were that way to the Greeks. They ruled over one aspect of humanity and that's all they cared about. Like Ares would be angry all the time, because that's just all they wanted him to be.
But that doesn't mean their children have to be the same way. They had to get something from their other parent.

I just love that kid. He's absolutely cute. I wanna know so badly what will happen to him and how his character will develop.
Yeah but even Greek gods aren't that flat. I actually have this feeling that demigods are flatter than gods. And well, gods are actually funny. I loved Ares and all his sassiness.

Yeah, that's true, the gods can be funny. But they're all either good or bad, there doesn't seem to be an in between

@Ashley - Yeah about Annabeth - Odysseus thing, I thought about the same thing but it's not only that. I mean, first of all it wasn't that clever, and second of all, how didn't Grover and Clarisse and Percy right away? It was obvious.
Well, maybe it'll be surprising for 10-12 year old and maybe this book is dedicated to kids this age but c'mon. Kids are able to understand more than that.
I guess I'll never escape comparing this series to Harry Potter series (and basically I feel like Percy Jackson's characters are just very poor copies of Harry Potter's characters - and I think I don't need to explain this, that's pretty obvious.)

Chapters 1 through 3 This book started off just where it left off. (view spoiler)[First I am shocked Percy almost got through the whole school year. I don't like Matt Sloan is so mean. I really hope we don't have to see him much. The Laistrygonians are crazy! Thank god Annabeth showed up. Chapters 4 through 7 (view spoiler)[ So the camp is under attack by bulls, but we don't know why. We just know that Thalia's tree has been poisoned. It sucks that Chiron got fired. The Grover dreams are getting really intense. I can't believe Tantalus gave Clarisee the quest, but its fine because Percy and Annabeth are going anyway. I really wished Luke was not bad :/ The hydra's in chapter 10 were creepy, and I was not happy Clarisee showed up. I feel bad for Tyson, and hope he is okay. Also C.C is so bizzare. I read through Chapter 8.
(view spoiler)[ Okay, what's Luke's problem? Was it ever explained why he has such immense daddy issues that he decides to raise a freaking titan? I'm seriously confused.
Tyson is so adorable! A giant crybaby :) I was surprised that Poseidon claimed him as his own, because aren't gods only supposed to do that for their human half-blood kids? I agree with Percy that it implies Poseidon is comparing his two sons.
