Q&A with Susan Ee Dec 7-8
Jennie wrote: "Which actors/actresses would you love to play your characters if the wonderful happened and your books were adapted for film or tv? :-)"There are so many great performers that it'd be impossible for me to pick one. The readers are welcome to continue to speculate, though, and of course, post photos of who they think would be right for the roles. :)
Aqsa wrote: "I know you mentioned you were a little behind on correspondence -- but if you get back on track, and I'm hoping you do! You should definitely check tumblr out..."I'm a LOT behind. Eternally behind. I have notes from two years ago that I still want to answer. That's why scheduled chat sessions like this once or twice a year are so great--it makes me clear my schedule and allows me to spend some time with you guys.
As for Tumblr, the last time I did a Goodreads chat (last year?), some people asked me to join. I'd love to. But I'm going to have to give up something important (like sleep) if I do because my days are already overbooked. I still have hope, though...
Sarah wrote: "Susan, thank you so much for doing this chat with us!"Thanks to all of you for a lovely chat today! I'm off to chill for a bit before bed. Feel free to continue to post non-spoiler questions or comments. I'll be back in the morning!
Hello Susan!! I wanted to ask if there's a chance that you'll visit the Philippines?? :) and could you also follow me on Twitter? @Camelle611
Thanks a lot :)
I am fascinated by angel/demon mythology, especially adaptations in YA literature. What inspired your vision of angels in your series? What made you decide to write about them?
Hey.. just wanted to tell you that u gave me the best book series ever, its YA, gory, bloody, clean romance, and amazing characters.. all of them.. I love Raffe, i love pooky bear, and penryn is the best heroine ever, dee dum are the best, the mother.. i really believe that she has a surprising past..
Still penryn's father is no where..
I loved how u handled the reunion, i was afraid it would turn out cheesy, but it was the sweetest thing ever everrr..
I just needed more Raffe, u tortured me susan.. i neede him.. i need him now, i love u sooo much for this book, and im happy i won't have to wait long.
My question was concerning the love triangle, but u already answered that to aqsa, so thank u so much cz really i don't need the love triangle. Just make the romance work sweetly with no cheeseniss .. :*
Shelby wrote: "Could you please tell Penryn (from me) to confess her feelings for Raffe already? :)"I think they both confessed a little .. omg .. swoonnnsss

I know! I just need more!!!!! I NEED them to be together. :p
Hey Susan! I love your books (such an original way to start :D) and your characters and I just enjoyed it all!Do you see yourself in some of your characters (for example Penryn)? Can you relate to your character's feelings, thoughts and actions (even though there is not a angelic apocalypse going on...)? Are there any characters of yours (laziness etc.) you've "added"/noticed in your characters (Penryn, Raffe etc.)?
<-- and I don't mean that you are lazy! It's hard to explain when the same word means two different things D:
Thank you for replying I will let you know who I think of when I reread the books, now I have to go get my other presents :-)
Sarah wrote: "I hear the sound of every single fan googling Gaspard Ulliel right now."Oh God, what have I done :-D But he was hot as an angel in The Vinter's Luck (although I think the movie itself was not so good) and he had big white wings! And that seductive smile I can totally picture for Raffe! So all in all, I can't think of anybody else to play him ;-)
After the fuss I created with bringing Gaspard into everybody's mind ;-) I'd love to know if you have any intentions to bring the archangel Michael into action (you mentioned him in Angelfall as the general), Susan! Will he be this bad-ass like the Bible says(not exactly but well he fights), I mean do you have a picture of him in mind?
Susan Ee wrote: "Yeah, I had to take that because they don't have classes for angel apocalypses yet. :D "since Angelfall is getting more and more popular, probably there will be one before long ~~ tehe ~ US is truly is place for wonders :)))
just out of curiosity, may i know what did you learn at the zombie class? as there are no real zombies, what are the suggested ways to kill one? just like what they do in The Walking Dead?
Are you going to give us any extra material? like, scenes from another character's POV and scenes that didn't make it into the book? That'd be really fun to read!
Hi Susan, So much of the series is set in and around San Francisco. I was wondering why you chose this as the main setting within both novels? Is San Francisco a significant place to you?
Thank you for taking the time to reply to so many questions, I hope to hear from you,
Ashleigh
Susan Ee wrote: "Hi, I'm back. :)"Yay, this whole thing is exciting! :D It's cool to hear from a author, especially one like you who writes so differently.
Several people have asked about Archangel Michael. He appeared briefly in an early draft of Angelfall along with Uriel, but his part was edited out and he never made an appearance to the readers. He's on my list for possibly getting his own story at some point… Josiah is also on that list…Just out of curiosity, what's the interest level of seeing a novella at some time in the future starring either Michael or Josiah?

Thanks, Amanda! It's fun for me too. :)
Me too, I'd like to see a novella about them. I haven't began Angelfall yet but already I'm interested!

Ariana wrote: "Are you going to give us any extra material? like, scenes from another character's POV and scenes that didn't make it into the book? have you thought about making a novella about Raffe and what he did in World After before he met Penryn ?
Ashleigh wrote: "So much of the series is set in and around San Francisco. I also like the contrast between old Testament-style angels being in Silicon Valley where humanity develops the cutting edge of technology.
Thanks for your responses about a Michael or Josiah novella! If you haven't spoken up yet but you're interested, feel free to post throughout the Q & A today so I can get a feel for the general interest level. :)
Hello Susan! I am glad and thankful for the thread and the discussion! Here's my question:How come Raffe is so out of the "angelic" respective? I remember his "words" from the first book. And will you please give more details about Hell?
The last thing Penryn wants is to search for Raffe in Hell!
Thank you and best of luck to your writting! :)
Highly interested in a novella! Some authors say they get inspired by everyday things to write a story. Did you get inspired to write this series the same way?
i would love love love to see a novella about Michael and/or Josiah!!! =)Oh, and will we ever get to meet Penryn's father??
I need to run off for Sunday breakfast. (Yum! :) I'll be back in an hour or two. Feel free to continue to post.
Susan Ee wrote: "I need to run off for Sunday breakfast. (Yum! :) I'll be back in an hour or two. Feel free to continue to post."Hehehe it's evening here in Finland so the idea of breakfast is quite absurd while we're eating evening snack, but hey time is just a number ;)
Liz wrote: "Is Laylah ... the only female angel?..."There are other female angels. I think there were some in the lobby of the aerie in Angelfall. It's true Penryn doesn't tell us much about them, though.

First of all, I would love to read a novella :) I seriously can't get enough of this entire world you've build up. So, my question is do we find more about Penryns and Raffes past in the next book?
Amanda wrote: "Can you relate to your character's feelings, thoughts and actions (even though there is not a angelic apocalypse going on...)? ..."I try to step into a character's perspective when I write. So even if it's not the main character, I try to see the world from their point of view and listen to their story from their side of it.
sometimes I wonder if actually Penryn's and/or Paige's(half sisters maybe?)dad could be a demon or an angel...
Dandelion wrote: "~~ tehe ~ US is truly is place for wonders :)))just out of curiosity, may i know what did you learn at the zombie class? ..."
Haha! Yes, I suppose being able to take a zombie apocalypse class is truly a sign of first-world wonders!
We went through various zombie grappling and household weapon techniques. The entire afternoon was zombie-independent in that we learned about guns. Lots of guns. I learned how to enter and clear out a building filled with zombies and gun-toting bad guys. It was surprisingly stressful but quite fun too. :)
