Oh I hate that movie. And isn't it supposed to be a Jane Austen film? I was thinking, if we are going to read Emma (?) we could watch a film Emma and compare. Tho I might not get to do the reading of Emma since I just got MaddAddam and cannot put off reading that next.
Sounds really fun!!! I am for Emma too. Maybe the one with mark strong and Kate backhinsale...

If this is really the one people want to watch the only way I think it would work would maybe be 2 sessions, 2 episodes each session? (unless 2 hours is too long)

The BBC series with Romola Garai? Did you really like that?
I voted for the one with Gwyneth Paltrow but if most people want to see the BBC series, it is fine by me.
I wanted to watch the BBC series after I had read the book, so I would prefer the shorter movies, but if most people want the series that's fine :) I'll just watch it later ;)

Perhaps, due to the length and the busy time of year, we should stick to a shorter film - which ever one wins the poll :)

Next decisions is when and what time.
As to when, do we think it is getting rather close to this busy time of year, Christmas (I have relations arriving before too long!) and that we should wait until early on in the new year, before the group read of Emma of course ?
This is going to be fun!
I agree that a weekend day in the new year would be best.
We don't all go round saying that at frequent intervals you know ;)

Ok a weekend, definitely, and in the new year when things calm down will be good, but before the group read begins :)
Shall we decide on the date now, so as to give people plenty of warning? I think the two available weekends would be 4/5th or 11/12th (at a push, 18/19th just before the group read on the 20th) :)

I vote for 11th / 12th too, as I'm normally still running around the place with frazzled hair on the 4th / 5th trying to get back to "normality" (whatever that is)!

I will do a poll for the films - I assume we are limited to films as the series start to get a bit long ;)

We also need to decide when it will happen and come to an appropriate time as there will be a lot of time differences going on!
