Assassination Vacation
The Living DeadWorld War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
I Am Number Four
Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm Patients
Yay! I love conspiracy theories! My biggest guilty pleasure, I think. I'm not sure how much it delves into the conspiracies themselves, but I assume Assassination Vacation will work, since it talks about the Kennedy and Lincoln assassinations?
Can I get approval for The Living Dead by John Joseph Adams? The genre Science Fiction has only 24 users

Yes, and I agree - I love conspiracy theories!

Yes, it's good.
Judy wrote: "For Option 2, can the genre contain a sub-genre (Science Fiction>Time Travel, etc.) or does it have to be strictly "Science Fiction" or strictly "Alternative History?"Thanks!"
As long as the book is more science fiction/alternative history than other genres or sub-genres, it works.
I am not a conspiracy theorist, even though i have a few but i don't read about them, though 11/22/63 looks good!
For Option 2:
by Pittacus Lore (Science Fiction)
This works?
For Option 2:

Untold Story is a great Alt. His for those who love Princess Diana. The Mirage is an Alt His. about 9/11.
The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln is Alt. His. about Abraham Lincoln surviving the assassination.
Fatherland has Hitler winning WWII and the story starts 1964.
The Boleyn King has Anne Boleyn's misscariage, a boy, survive and become king after Henry VIII's death.
Those are just a few I have in my to read list.
Notice that none of these seem to involve War like The Great War: American Front, which is battle after battle of WWI in America because the South (Confederacy) won the Civil War and are allies with France and England, while the North (America) is allies with Germany.
Will this work for conspiracy theory: Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm PatientsWe are supposed to believe that the pharmaceutical industry's focus is on public health, when they are actually making us sicker while collecting massive profits.

Yes, sounds perfect for a conspiracy
i've worked in the military/intel field for too long for conspiracy theories...although they are fun to listen to...guess i'm going to go option 2 - will have to get approved for length but Her Ladyship's Curse - sci-fi>alternate history with 6 ppl (sci-fi> steampunk 72 and straight sci-fi 4)
Sheila wrote: "Laurie would this book work for option 2

I don't know what a constitutes a conspiracy. Would you please look at the GR description for this book and tell me if you think it qualifies?Critical Mass by Sara Paretsky

Thank you. It appears Ms. Warshawski has information Homeland Security thinks is of interest to them.
Julie wrote: "Please approve Divergent for Option 2 (Science Fiction genre on main page)Thank you!"
Yes, it's good by me.
I would like to seek approval for His Majesty's Dragon under Option 2 (Science Fiction or Alternative History). It seems to be under both genres. :D

Works for me - Yes.

No, what's the conspiracy?
V for VendettaFor Option #2, is a graphic novel, like V is for Vendetta, acceptable? The completed work is 296 pages. From the SRC rules it seems like it would qualify, but I wanted to be sure.

As long as it complies with the SRC rules, it's fine.
Just to point this out so you do not read this in vain, this is point 6 in the general SRC rules:6. Books with at least 100 pages whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may only be used for 5, 10, and 15 point tasks.
As this is a 20 points task, V for Vendetta will probably not work for this. Sometimes task creators allow graphic novels for their task, but this is always mentioned in the task discription (like Ms Anderson does in her 30.1 task).

Since V for Vendetta doesn't meet the requirements for a 20 point task, I'll have to say no.
Kirsty wrote: "Can i use Angelfall for the science fiction genre? It is listed as sci-fi dystopia. Thanks"Yes
Since there is currently only 4 users for Science Fiction on Dead Men Kill, I am looking for genre verification to use this for Option 2 -- Thanks!!

As the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of John Kennedy passed, I was again reminded about one of my favorite subjects to read about: conspiracy theories. It’s amazing to me to think that one person, Lee Harvey Oswald, alone killed JFK. There are so many other cases where the official position is questionable, such as Was Butch Cassidy actually killed in Bolivia or did he survive and return home to America?; or, Did John Wilkes Booth survive the manhunt after he’d assassinated Abraham Lincoln?; or, Is the story of the Da Vinci code real?, as Dan Brown and his book, The Da Vinci Code, want us to believe; or Did Marilyn Monroe commit suicide or was she helped?
For this task choose an option and read 1 book:
option 1. If you have a favorite conspiracy theory, read a book related to that subject. It can be fiction or nonfiction.
Required: Name the conspiracy theory and explain how your book fits the task.
option 2. If you don’t have an interest in conspiracies, read a book that has the genre alternative history or science fiction on the book's main page genre list.
Required: Indicate the option
