I think it's gonna be good!

I wonder if anyone will stick to their picks? :)

Oh right. I'll do that when I get home. It's quitting time! :)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I like your list also =] Ooh I really enjoyed River God, I hope you like it =]

I'm also thinking about adding The Woman in White it too, just not sure where to make the link yet.

I have a friend reading it and she says it's really good, thus the impulse pick up! I'll let you know.

The Woman in White seems to be a popular one in this challenge. I'm sure you'll find a good place to link it! :)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments Setting Britain could work, right Sarah?

Dawn, one of my best friends here raves over that book (WtD). Just adored it, and she has excellent taste. I'm sure it'll be good.

Esther (nyctale) | 5194 comments Danw, I see that we have both our Safehold books and in the Micky mouse part (unless we change our list...) so this buddy read will not happen in the next weeks. Guess we will see how it goes, but my guess would be March.

message 59: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments I put mine in to match with yours. My list will be ever changing I'm sure (part of the fun) so if I need to move them so we can coincide that will be no problem!

message 60: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5194 comments We will see how it goes and adjust. :)

message 61: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Works for me!

message 62: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments 3 down, 3 to go!! I wonder how far I can get with a three day weekend coming up??

message 63: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Wow, Dawn, you are either going to burn out your ears or go blind before the end of the month. Breathe girl!

Please - I am only kidding. Is this your normal pace?

message 64: by Tasha (new)

Tasha She is a very fast reader. :)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Cherie wrote: "Wow, Dawn, you are either going to burn out your ears or go blind before the end of the month. Breathe girl!"

lol As long as it's only one of them. I must be able to get my fix somehow!!

This is pretty much my normal pace, I am a bit obsessive, I read all the time. And I love chunksters, which I didn't get to a lot last year. So this is catch up!

Janice (jamasc) | 59905 comments Looks like I better get moving on creating the first badge! :)

message 67: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Ooooh, that will be my very first badge with the group too. :)

I was gonna say I won't be done for about 10 days but it could be sooner!

message 68: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments Wow, you are flying! What did you think of We, the Drowned? Did it live up to the hype lol?

message 69: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Not for me. It could be quite boring. The story was interesting but it took far too long to tell. Still a 3 star though.

message 70: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I felt the same way. It think it was hyped up a bit for me. I was so excited to read it and it just didn't deliver like I was expecting.

message 71: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments I think we had the same experience based on your review. :)

message 72: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments hmm....ok. Good to know. The person who recommended it to me also loved Shōgun, which I really didn't like and finally abandoned halfway through, so I may need to reconsider this yet again. Sorry to hear it. At least you got through it though.

Janice (jamasc) | 59905 comments Laura wrote: "Wow, you are flying! What did you think of We, the Drowned? Did it live up to the hype lol?"

This does not bode well. I have it on my Kindle to read.

message 74: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I have friends who loved it though. Just not me.

message 75: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments That's good to hear, Tasha.

Janice, which one? Shogun or Drowned?

message 76: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I'm all envy, Dawn. I just cannot read that fast! On the other hand, I seem to be finding more complex stories and don't want to either. I enjoy looking things up if I want/need to. I can go faster on less involved subjects sometimes.

message 77: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments I love immersing myself in a good book and reading all day. I spend all my weekends reading, all my lunch breaks and I listen to something for my commute. It's more of spending immense amounts of time reading than actually being fast. :)

Drowned.

message 82: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Thanks, I wasn't quite fast enough to beat Travis but I thought I could still be pretty speedy. :)

message 83: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Finally done Slick's Slugs!! 6 Chunksters down, now to get some of my other reading done......I have a few shorter books awaiting my time. The next six must wait for February.

message 84: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3259 comments Wow Dawn! I can't believe how fast you finished! What was your favorite book from your Slick's group?

message 85: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Congrats Dawn!!! :D

message 86: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Marnie wrote: "What was your favorite book from your Slick's group?"

Oh, that's easy! The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood

Such an awesome book.

Woot!

Congratulations, it's only two weeks into the year and six chunky books read?? Pretty impressive stuff.

message 90: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 3259 comments Added to my TBR - thank you!

message 91: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Very cool seeing those crossed off books. ;)

Laura (apenandzen) | 3367 comments Marnie wrote: "Added to my TBR - thank you!"

Terrific choice Marnie!

message 93: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Thank you Laura and I agree that it's a great choice Marnie!!!

message 94: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments My plans to read shorter books has ended abruptly with me starting The Tyrant's Law by Daniel Abraham. I guess that means I'm tucking into Mickey's Marchers a couple weeks earlier than planned. :)

message 95: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Marnie wrote: "Wow Dawn! I can't believe how fast you finished! What was your favorite book from your Slick's group?"

I like the idea of choosing a favourite from each section! I look forward to when I'm finished the first section so I'm in a position to do so. I'm unfortunately not as quick as Dawn so it will be a while!

message 96: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments Now that you're done Perdido Street Station it should go a bit faster. :)

I've heard some good things about most of the books on your Slick's list, you might have a hard time picking a fav!

Yes the other ones in Slick's are a bit shorter too so won't be so bad. I'm trying to weave a couple audios into each section as that will speed up the process too. I'm excited about the books in my Slick's list - very difficult to choose which one to read next!

Added The Blind Assassin to my TBR. Have you read The Penelopiad by Attwood? It has just been released on my library audio app so I'm going to give it a listen - it's pretty short too.

message 98: by Michelle T. (new)

Michelle T. (chely1217) | 148 comments Wow! You already done with the first set... Congrats!!!

message 99: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1787 comments I haven't read The Penelopiad, though I have had it recommended to me before.

The Blind Assassin was only my second Atwood book. I am going to try and read a few more this year though, it's just sad that I haven't before. Especially as I own so many. :)

I have about 20 books for audio that I need to get through before I go find myself some more. I have a few series I'm finishing this way.

A little time off at the beginning of the year was helpful. :)
