When to start The Adversary??

Ahhh--this issue has come up in the past! As leader I think it is your job just to pick a date & stick with it--I think that the Good Reads site has a calendar so you could actually map out our readings a few weeks in advance [not sure how much work that is] and then if people were having issues they could bring them to discussion & we could talk about them? Moving the onus around and all that...Also, with this Club it seems like we have a *lot* more people that have already completed the book before we start then we ever did on the WotC site.
I prefer the idea of diving right into the Adversary. Not only because I am excited to read it [which I am--I love those Brimstone Angel Tiefling Sisters!], but because I generally find more time for reading during the Holidays.
I am OK either way; but, I think we have a good bit of momentum going in the club right now and Erin's amazing enthusiasm will likely bring a lot of new members into the group.
If the concern is that people do not have a copy of the book yet, lets wait and start on 12/16/13 ?

I am good either way. I already read it twice and might read it a third time with your guys. But I can wait to do that, or start now.
There is the amazon mess,so maybe wait a week for folks to get their books by other means?
I was going to get the book from Amazon but have now ordered from Erin. I would say start whenever, but maybe wait a week if people are trying to get it from another site. I know Erin mentioned on her FB she was going out of town next week. You might want to ask her if she'd prefer before/after the holiday to start.
Ok thanks for the feedback everyone. It sounds like we all want to dive into this book, and everyone who has read it wants to talk about it. I can't wait to get into it either, so let's start it on Monday the 16th so that people have an opportunity to deal with the Amazon mess.
Erin is on vacation that week, but she is also pretty anxious to start discussing the book with us, so I will let her know that we are going to start on the 16th and that way she can prepare her husband. Her words...not mine.

I would like to wait till the new year, but that is just my opinion. I guess I won't be participating since my wife wants to buy it for me as a Christmas present.
Having read this book I can honestly say it is well worth the wait. On the other hand as good as it is you shouldn't wait because it needs read ASAP.....Then again the sooner you rsad it the longer you have to wait for book 4
What about reading all of the 'bonus material' and the prologue starting on 12/16/13 & then chapters 1-3 starting on 12/23/13?
This would put the Christmas Receivers only two day behind the rest of us?
I am not sure if the Bonus Material all over Erin's blog contain spoilers--there are excerpts, character sketches, & etc.; but, it would keep our momentum moving without causing the CR's to fall to far behind?

I kind of like David's idea.
The Bonus material shouldn't contain spoilers, with the exception of the blog post that goes with Mehen's excerpt. There are seven excerpts and character blogs total and each one is between 1-2k words. Which means it's like...two and half of my chapters total? Also there's one or two other posts with the Sundering or Adversary tag.
There's also the sample chapter which is the prologue and Chapter One.
It's a little weird, I guess. But I do want as many people to participate as possible. :)

That sounds like a great idea David! I'm in no way biased... /wink
Did we come to a conclusion here? I'd like to make sure I promote the book club before we start. :)
So it sounds like everyone is in agreement that starting the bonus material and prologue this week (12/16), and the first couple of chapters next week (12/23), will work out. Thanks everyone for your input and helping to create a nice compromise to keep everyone involved.

We are wrapping up The Godborn and that means that The Adversary is on deck, but I have a dilemma and have been racking my brain trying to solve it.
I wasn't sure if we should dive right into The Adversary, or maybe hold off until just after Xmas and New Years. Part of me wants to keep this party bus rocking, but another part of me understands that some people haven't gotten their copies yet (right Amazon?) and may even be waiting for Santa to deliver it. Plus it would be nice to kick off 2014 with The Adversary, especially since Erin has been a lot of fun in past book club discussions. No pressure Erin.
I have decided to handle this like a true democracy. I am going to let everyone share their thoughts, we can discuss it, and come to a decision. Of course, like any good democracy, if your decision differs from mine I will be forced to block any attempts to make progress in this book club, and eventually just shut it down. :)
Any thoughts?
