20.6 Seasoned Reader - Susan's Task: I Love To Plan

I've been doing the Seasonal Challenge for several years. I've never finished one, usually because I spend way too much time planning which books to read for each task and maintaining my spreadsheets! So I have a lot of books that I planned to read for specific tasks, and then didn't have enough time to read them all.

So here is your chance to pick a one book task from either the Fall or Summer 2013 Challenges, that you did not complete.*

Your book must be a minimum of 250 pages long.

NOTE: ebooks without print versions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. If you read an ebook or listen to an audiobook, use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.

You may choose any of the 10 point tasks or any 15 point task that requires only 1 book. You can also pick a 20 point task, with the exception of Fall's 20.7, as it already allowed you to use a task from Spring or Summer 2013, and no Group Reads (task 20.10) from either season. If you use a 20 point task, you must meet the requirements and may take advantage of the concessions of the creator of the original 20 point task, including the use of graphic novels and children's books under 300 pages, but at least 250 pages.

Books with the genre Children and graphic novels may be used for the 10 and 15 point tasks if they meet the 250 page threshold.

Required: Please state which Challenge, the task number and any requirements for the task.

*If you completed all of the 10, 15, and 20 tasks in both challenges, pick one of the 10 books that has been your TBR list the longest that is at least 250 pages, either on Good Reads or a list you maintain off the website. Required: Please state how long the book has been on your list and that you had completed all the previous season's tasks.

Susan | 682 comments Just wanted to address the issue of new members-

If this is your first challenge, you can pick a task from either the Fall or Summer seasons challenges, as described in the original post. You can't use the 2nd option for members that have finished both challenges.

If you have any other other questions, please ask away. This is the first challenge I've made, so I'm sure there are things I haven't thought of.

Thank you!

15.10 - No More Homework!
School's out! Take a break and read a book of your choice.

Can I use this? Fall 2013 was my first challenge and I completed all of the tasks. All of the tasks in Summer are not completed for me.

Susan | 682 comments Susan-
Yes, you can chose 15.10 for Summer 2013, as long as you didn't claim it during that challenge. The only ones you can't redo are the 20.10 group reads for either season, or 20.7 in the fall.

Hope that helps-

Susan

Rochella (rosesbookgarden) | 109 comments I have a question. Since it's my first time participating, I haven't done any of the challenges from Fall and Summer. So can I just choose one of those challenges? Or should I go with the latter option?

If this is your first challenge, please pick a book from the previous 2 challenges, following the guidelines I outlined.

April Fall 10.4. Back by Request - Labor Day
The Impeachment of Abraham Lincoln by Stephen L. Carter

Pretty sure this is fine, but I am also setting this here so I'll remember later. I have a habit of planning and then forgetting what task the book was for.

Yes, this will work.

This seems fine-Wikipedia states that it was originally used to describe a person who hauled goods in a cart. Sounds like a job to me!

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 247 comments Hi,

I would just like to make sure I understood the task. :) A bit nervous about my first challenge!

I want to use from the Fall Challenge:
15.3 -- Half and Half

Read a book written by an author whose first name is in the first half (A-M) of the alphabet
AND
A book written by an author whose last name is in the second half (N-Z) of the alphabet

OR

One book that fits both criteria.
*** Choosing this one ***

The book is:
Bad Idea by Damon Suede. (Paperback, 350 pages)

This should be okay right?

Deana (ablotial) | 276 comments I'd like to go with 20.2 from summer

Using: The Irresistible Henry House

Can you please approve? It currently has "family" on the genres, but only by 10 people so I am afraid it will fall off. Thanks!

Just to make sure i am doing this right, I've decided to do this one:

***20.8- It's My Birthday - Cindy F's Task: We Love Scrabble***
➥Your book must be over 250 pages.
REQUIRED: State in your post which option you chose.

➥Option 1: You draw 7 tiles to play and always have 7 on your holder. Read a book with a 7 letter word in the title. Subtitles and series titles cannot be used.
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn by Gillian Flynn

Dee (austhokie) | 8946 comments hi Susan - question

I divide my GR to-read into 2 exclusive shelves - my to-read is the eventually I will get to these books and my to-read-2013 (which will become to-read-2014 in January) - since I finished both challenges i'm doing the TBR option and wanted to make sure it was ok to use my to-read-2013 shelf (it has like 300 books on it, and is exclusive)

This one is fine (a very good book in my opinion), just make sure that when you post it as a finished task, you state it is from the Fall 2013 Challenge.
