It turns out the language the synopsis is written in is Romanian for some reason...
The synopsis from the back of my copy is:
"If I had been born a woman I would certainly have been a prostitute. Since I had been born a man, I craved women constantly, the lower the better."
Low-life writer and full-time alcoholic Henry Chinaski was born to survive. Life has been hard, but now at the age of fifty he's living like a movie star, running three hundred hangovers a year and a sex-life that would cripple Casanova.
The page count is 291 - or at least 290 numbered with the material ending on what is 291 - with a few pages of book adverts stuck onto the end on un-numbered pages.
It was published in 1988 by Allison & Busby; first published in Great Britain in 1981, though the copyright is dated 1978 so I'm not sure how that'd affect the originally published date.
