Need help finding a book-can't remember the name

I read a book some years ago, it was about an Indian who kidnapped and married a white woman. The white woman was either the daughter of a general in the army that was fighting the Indians or she was suppose to marry a general in the army. Anyways he kidnapped her and held her in his camp, she lived with some old Indian lady in the camp for a while and then they got married.

Any help is appreciated. For some reason I've been thinking about this book and can't remember the name.
