Alli Ok, so I've been gone a while...busy with work, kids, and life in general. While on my leave from goodreads, I read a WONDERFUL book...The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This book....wow, what can I say. I literally could not put it down. I read it in one sitting, which is very easy to do. You are grabbed from the get-go. Also, I am currently reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. I didn't really know if I would like this one, but alas, I find it another book that is hard to put down. This darn job thing keeps getting in the way of reading the book in one sitting. Its worth it though. Hopefully, I can finish it this weekend. Sorry to go on forever; just wanted to let you guys know about both of these books. Hope you will be able to pick them up and give me your thoughts about each.

Take Care All!
~Allison

Phillip Welcome back, Allison.

I liked the way Wicked started, but towards the end (the last 100 pages) I felt it got a bit tedious. It seemed like the ideas started to seize up, or he didn't want to end it, or he wasn't sure how to keep the rhythm going. But I really liked the way it opened and the way he re-imagined the world we know from the film.

Alli I'm not that far in yet. I've been finding it hard to find time to get away so I can read. I'm just now at the part of the story where she is Galinda's roomate and she is on the bed reading. I really enjoyed the first part of the book. To me, its already dragging, but maybe that is just because I'm having to read bits here and there, whenever I get the chance.

Alli Thanks Phillip...its good to be back.

Amanda I thought Wicked was great, but the next one, Son of a Witch wasn't nearly as good

Phillip Maguire has written a bazillion of these books at this point. I was never drawn to any of his other efforts.

Amanda I was only aware of 3 books he wrote about Oz and the rest were based on other stories
