Your challenge widget shows 2 books read in July. Sometimes there's a bit of a delay. I always click on "view books" to force the update on my challenge widget.

Thanks Janice, now they are showing, so there must just have been a delay for some reason. I just hadn't experienced a delay like this before. Good to know about the "view books" hint.
Hmmm, wish I hadn't been so inactive the first half of the year, this challenge sounds like fun. Perhaps I'll figure out some books to read to hit the first milestone by the end of the year.

You just have to figure out how to link them. There is still plenty of time. The badges are awarded by sections rather than waiting for the year end. This way, you can go for one section and get a badge and then continue or stop. It is up to you.
I have had my whole challenge planned out since the beginning of the year and only finished one section so far.
Cherie wrote: "Lucy, I think any books you read from the beginning of the year can be figured into this challenge. You just have to figure out how to link them. There is still plenty of time...."Thumbs Up...what Cherie said I can see some from February and March without even trying hard!
All with Blue on the Covers
Wow, Cherie, great eye (I never would have thought of cover color being the connection). Sadly I think those were from last year, but I'll see if anything works for what I have read this year. And since I last posted I came up with a string of six (a very winding series of connections, to be sure), so that's a start.EDIT: I think I can get a string for 'one word titles' from books I've read earlier this year. =)
Not me - that was Almeta. She must have gone trolling through your Read book list. She has a great eye and there you go! You are on your way to figuring out links. She is very good at this stuff. I never thought to look at the book covers to link them. duh!
Janice linked a couple of her books with "female author" and Almeta and I both were caught with our mouths open. We made it so hard on ourselves to be so clever with our links, even when we were having fun.
Lucy wrote: " Sadly I think those were from last year, but I'll see if anything works for what I have read this year. ..."How embarrassing! Yeah they were from 2013!☺
Anyway you got the idea.
Oh, whoops, you're right Cherie, that was Almeta! Thanks Almeta, you got my brain working on some ideas!
I've used same sex author links too. I've also recently used 'been on my tbr since 2010' link. there are so many options out there good luck!

So sad I only just joined, this is a challenge for my. My friends at work once asked me if I deliberately looked for the biggest, thickest book in the bookshop....... Yep at times, often even, I do.
We've allowed new members to include books they've completed as long as they were started after January 1, 2014 and fit the criteria. If you prefer to start now and not go back to Jan 1st, you could plan the first section. You have 4 months left in the year to read the 6 books. All that is required to complete the challenge is to complete the first section.
We have quite a few speed readers in our group so I always have to plan something to keep them going, while allow us slowpokes to achieve something too.
That's great Janice, I have a written list of all the books I have read do far including page numbers so I'll just need to find a way to connect them all! Oh and start my thread..... Hmmmm what to call it?
Hi I just joined this group and wanted to make sure I was able to start at the beginning of the year for my books. As long as I connect them right?

Just wondering whether I can start a book from the next section while I'm still reading a book in the current section!
Hi Sarah, I happened to see your question. My understanding and method has been to begin and finish all the books within a milestone before moving on to the next milestone. I think one of the rules stipulates about doing this. Not 100% sure, but that's my take. Isn't this a great challenge? I'm really enjoying it : )
I found it, message 128 from Janice:You may read books out of order as long as you stay within each milestone. So, if you are on Slick's team, you may read those 6 books in any order. You can't jump to any of the books in Mickey's team until you've finished ALL six books in Slick's team.
That's why I recommend that you plan your lists so that you at least have all 6 books with their links figured out. Then you can read them out of order.
I knew we had discussed it somewhere... :)
OK! Nice one guys! And thanks Dawn for trawling through the posts. I knew we could read the books out of order within a section but I wasn't sure about overlapping reads.
Sooo... it's mid-October and the end of the year is coming close. Any idea when we will get a first teaser about next year's challenge Janice? ;-)
Can't wait to know what it will be about...Killing?
As in mystery books? As there must be a dead or death in the book?
Please, another hint! ;o)
It could be about mysteries. It could also be about romance. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBLxcY...
Hm, that song was covered (and perhaps killed according to some) by The Fugees. Are we going to read books that were 'killed' by making them into movies?
Peggy wrote: "Hm, that song was covered (and perhaps killed according to some) by The Fugees. Are we going to read books that were 'killed' by making them into movies?"I'd prefer that to the romance thing... I rarely read romance and when I do it's because they are romantic comedy, not "serious" romances ;o)
I don't think Janice is a meanie enough to force us to read one genre for a whole year ;-)I guess the killing may not be actual murders, but refers to sonething different, and for the challenge you can probably read all kinds of genres and books.
Almeta wrote: "Janice wrote: "Weeellll... how to word this delicately? Killing is involved."As in ?
"
lol, perfect graphic Almeta!
Laura wrote: "Is it books with song titles? The suspense is killing me!"Oooh! That might the "killing" that Janice said was involved ;o)
Janice, I am reorganizing the bookshelves in my house (way too many books...) and knowing what I should keep close at hand would be really useful! Please?
I will likely post the year long challenge the beginning of December, once the Dec challenge is under way and before j'mom unleashes the toppler on us. December will be a gophering month - forget Christmas!
You'll just have to make good use of the long-ness by reading heaps of chunskters!!Actually, I have a chunkster related question. I finished section 2, and picked up my first book in section 3. So I was reading those back to back. But i put it down to read toppler books, and am now reading it again. So question is, even though I haven't finished first book section 3 yet, I did start it straight away, and so can I use the toppler books in my chain?
...
Well that was long winded.
