So, we all know that sometimes discussion lags, or just doesn't get going at all, so we think that having discussion leaders may help.

Another group I'm in requires the person who nominated the book to lead the discussion of the book if it wins the poll, and we did think about doing something similar (it would potentially help restrict the poll to books that people are seriously intending to read), but we decided on something a little more flexible (and rewarding) to see how it goes.

We're not looking for anything overly involved, commitment-wise, just one or two people who will read the book and stimulate conversation occasionally throughout each group read month for January, February, April, and May.

There will be incentive to participate, but I'm still mulling that over, and I think I may make it a surprise. Depending on how this goes, we may continue it, or tweak it, or otherwise adjust based on my whims. :P

So, if you're interested in volunteering, let me know, and if you have any questions, ask them here. If you have suggestions for participation incentive, PM me. :D

Diane S ☔ I would be happy to do this, just to check in and to keep the conversation going. Sounds very doable.

Bryn Hammond (brynhammond) | 218 comments I've led discussion in another group for a book I nominated, and that's no sweat, the only trouble is to shut me up.

My question here is -- I'd happily commit to discussion, but for books I'm into enough to vote for. Can't commit if it's whatever wins.

C.P. Lesley (cplesley) | 585 comments I'm with Bryn. If I'm reading the book anyway, leading a discussion is no problem. But I'm way over-committed as it is (which is why you haven't heard as much from me recently, although I lurk like mad).

But under the right circumstances, yes.

Liza | 68 comments Sign me up! But, I've never led a discussion before so I' like to participate in a couple of discussions that have a leader first before I lead one, if possible.

Well, really, we're not asking for an in-depth analysis or anything - just someone who will read the book and raise points they found interesting, or even problematic, or discuss themes or what they thought of the characters, etc. Basically, all the stuff you'd already do, but we're just asking for someone to volunteer to keep the discussion going.

Zoe Saadia (zoesaadia) I'm on. If I nominated the book anyway and it won, I won't mind to be all chatty about it :D

Definitely sounds do-able, and like something we would be doing anyway. :) Sounds exciting!
