Hello, Mindful Readers,I've been practicing Soto zen for about seven years, but just recently found Goodreads. I find many types of books - history, fiction, etc. - relevant to zen practice.

Live in Seattle. Committed to meditating daily about yesterday an half ago. I am absorbing a lot of books, starting from Soto Zen (beginners mind). A lot of skillful means in many traditions.
Hello Mindful Readers,I have been practicing mindful meditation and awareness for two years and contemplative prayer for a little more than a year. I like the book selections, and was already using insight timer, so I kinda felt at home. I look forward to sharing our common focus.

Hi everyone - I'm writing from icy Alberta in Canada. I look forward to seeing all your reading recommendations. At this point in time, I am re-reading the Sarah Ban Breathnach books, and have Way of the Peaceful Warrior in my TBR pile. In all honesty, I'm more mystery reader than mindfulness reader. My lastest recommendation? The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer.

Hello, my name is Bill and I am an author and practicing Buddhist. My new book, "Born-Again Buddhist" was inspired by the teachings of Thay (Thich Nhat Hanh). His concept of interbeing has enabled me to alter my perception of past enemies. I enjoy hiking meditation on a daily basis.

Hello,I am from Buffalo, New York and moved to NC a few years ago. I have been reading and learning as much as possible about Buddhism and have been meditating now for almost a year after learning about my past life from a spiritual healer and learned I was a Monk and I have finally found out my path in this life and now I understand my life's purpose and can follow my path.

I sat with Joshu Sasaki Roshi long ago, was a lot of fun. I got into all this through music John Cage, a great Zen musician. I have read most of the books of T.D. Suzuki...long ago.
Welcome Adrien. I see you're into Alan Watts as well. He's great. I used to listen to his talks each week on community radio, and I've read a few of his books also.
Wow! 71 members who would've thought we'd grow to that size! It would be great it the new folk would post an introduction, please try and keep the group active guys.Gassho

Hi, my name is Andy Furst. I'm an author, Buddhist teacher, and a technologist. I live just North of Boston and teach primarily Pure Land. I just released my first book - Western Lights: A Collection of Short Essays on Buddhism. I’ve started work on my next book. The working title is “An Internet Junkies Guide to Enlightenment”. I’m doing some research in the form of a series of very brief, 1 or 2 question surveys. Take the survey and register to receive a free pre-release e-book.
Lately I've been very drawn to Krishnamurti. I'm also thoroughly enjoying "Where the Heart Beats" a John Cage biography, tying together his art career and Buddhism.
Great to have you in the group Andrew, thank you taking the time to introduce yourself.Best wishes

Hi, I am a new member. I started reading about Buddhism, as well as meditating, regularly only a few months ago. But twenty-five years ago or so I was sitting Zazen and before that, reading a lot of Krishnamurti, back in my twenties. This group is the closest I have gotten to a Sangha yet, although I am looking for one in my town. I am looking forward to many interesting exchanges here.Sincerely,
Doubtful Homemaker
Welcome Lisa, it's great to have you in the group, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself.Best wishes

Hello all,My name is Charlie. I live in small town Iowa. Like others I have noticed in the thread, I have had a hard time finding a local Buddhist teacher or community so I have turned to books! I have most enjoyed the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh and His Holiness the Dalai Lama amongst others.
I have only been practicing Buddhism (and very casually so) over the past year to have found that it has helped me become a much calmer and compassionate being. I am hoping to continue on this spiritual journey in order to do the best that I can as a future educator to change the world.
Much love and peace to you all!
Charlie

Hi, I am originally from London but I'm now living in the north of Scotland. I have been practising Soto Zen for quite a few years and just recently I've discovered the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh.
