Tracey | 916 comments 102. Code Name Verity - I liked it, but all of the writing about aviation wasn't my cup of tea. It prevented me from loving it.

103. The Red Pyramid - If you read a Percy Jackson book, then this one is just a less well written version of it.

104. The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America - It had some interesting facts but overall I was turned off by it.

105. The Assassin's Curse - Underwhelming.

Tracey | 916 comments 106. The Name of the Wind - I could understand why many like this one, but it wasn't my type of book.

107. The Color Purple - I liked this one.

108. Beloved - It was a bit confusing at first, but I ended up liking in the end. I wasn't a big fan of the writing style though.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Awesome chase. I am reading the name of the wind right now and enjoying it.

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I studied Beloved at university. "Confusing" doesn't even begin to cover what it is! I did like it a lot, though. The film adaptation is also very good.

Tracey | 916 comments 109. The Miniaturist - I really liked this one. It's mysterious and a bit magical.

110. Life of Pi - I do wish I had read this before watching the movie.

111. A Christmas Carol - Finally glad I read this after seeing it in movies.

112. The Girl With Glass Feet - Pretty writing but story was very lost.

113. The Gift of the Magi - short and sweet.

114. The Rook - I actually was surprised I liked this one. It's a little x-men-esque, and a massive info-dump, but it kept me interested enough.

Overbooked ✎ (kiwi_fruit) | 800 comments Chase I was surprised by the Rook too, I even gave it 4 stars (and I've been tight fisted with stars recently) :-)

message 110: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments I gave it a 3 but this is one of those times where I would have loved a half star rating for a 3.5. It looks like a sequel comes out for it next year so I might have to watch out for that one.

Tracey | 916 comments And this will be my last post in my 2014 challenges, as I will be taking the next two days to start on War and Peace for 2015...

115. Big Little Lies - Really glad it didn't disappoint as I had read it because of all the hype behind it.

116. Coraline - An easy read that I devoured in a day.

117. Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales - This was actually a re-read that I had picked up and put down and picked up throughout the past year, but I finally decided to get it off of my "currently reading" shelf.

118. Stardust - I liked this a lot better than the movie. Granted, the only thing I remembered about the movie was that there was a witch....

Now, on to my 2015 topic.
