The book is long, like 900 plus.

It's about a city full of philosophers and scientists. They are secluded from the rest of the world. But once every now and then, in a great ceremony, they get to interact with the outside world.

I THINK the novel is written by a man, and I think it is somewhat recent (like only a decade old, tops).
