Michele Shaw (michelecshaw) | 12 comments I adored this book, but that's because I was laughing so hard at it. For me it was a work so drenched in every vampuric cliche that it almost crossed into parody. I feel this book managed to avoid a lot of the other problems that this genre usually revels in such as abusive alpha males and bizarre sexual politics. These two things combine to make me also love/hate this book.

I loved the book. I liked how the stereotypes were thrown in and then knocked right back out. I almost snorted soda through my nose when I was reading the part about how Monica was wearing a button that read "Vampires are People too."

Snarktastic Sonja (snownsew) | 31 comments This actually typifies everything I both love AND hate about Urban Fantasy. I am strongly opposed to vampires (who are NOT people, too, darnit!) And, I am even more opposed to them as love interests. It just seems wrong to me to have someone as a love interest who can control minds/feelings and overpower.

BUT, I love the snark and sarcasm. I love the wit of the book. I have something highlighted on almost every page. Made me laugh so hard. I also love the compassion that Anita has for those around her.

At least the vampires were creepy . . .

Steven Quinones | 2 comments I love how the main character is written. I how is came off as a real person with true feeling.

my main problem with this book, was that I had seen it. after reading different books from this genre it feels like out play and use to much. maybe this was the blue print that everyone else had use and has done better or worse. it was write in 1993, before show like Buffy and True Blood.

I had more problems with this book but I save it for later discussion
