The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 350 comments Enjoyable read! Somewhat predictable and took a major concept from Stephanie Meyer's The Host, but it was a fun read!

Tracey (addicted_to_reading) i couldn't even get through the entire book before i wanted to throw it out a window. the different character POVs and boring dialogue was enough to frustrate me. i really thought i was gonna like this book but it failed to interest me.

Mariel I really liked this book. Although the dual pov stuff confused me at the beginning, I think the idea was original and totally creepy! I love Evan! He's like the most totally amazing alien ever! I think this book would make a really great movie!! I can't wait for the infinite sea and to read more about Cassie and Evan!!!!

Kelly (kellymatherly) | 7 comments This book sounds so intriguing. I will admit, I kept looking past it everything it showed up. There's something about the cover that's a little ho-hum to me.

Chloe Jane | 20 comments I enjoyed the changes in POVs. I was gripping the pages anxiously waiting to see what was going to happen to each character. I enjoyed this book very much and wouldn't mind reading the sequel.

Inês | 9 comments Really enjoyed it! Rick Yancey can write :)

At first it was a bit confusing and just a tad slow but it quickly picks up. The action scenes are incredibly detailed and I just loved the characters, especially Cassie and Evan :P
It reminded me a bit of The Host but the story definitely had its own legs :)
I'll be eagerly waiting for the sequel!!

Isabelle (damneddaybreaker) | 10 comments I thought I was going to love it, but I didn't.

I wanted the main characters to die (I even chanted die, die, die, die while reading it). I wanted the girl to kill the boy a lot. (view spoiler). It was so predictable!

I wanted to throw it out of the window, put it on fire, rub it with meat and watch my dog tear it apart, anything! Such a pity I borrowed it... But thank the Angel I didn't buy it.

HWEE Personally, this book frustrated me to no end!!And the writing... GRRRR. I hated Cass (main character) and the switching of POV is confusing which eventually annoyed me.

And yes I do want to throw it away or burn it too (Hi-5 guys!). really don't understand what's so good about this book which makes most people rave about it.

On a side note the cover is pretty awesome
