Omg, say that five times real fast.

LOL. Onwards.

I was thinking--you know, it's so easy to veer into the WTF category of bodiceripping goodness, but what are some books that were deeply engaging without being too risque--and should have been a Bodice Ripper?

The Farthest Eden and Tarifa had nuttiness aplenty in both (incest...rape...crazy as a fox heroines), but they somehow skirted the edge to be respectable-ish HF. Both are set in the old Californio, so I think it's something about the setting. LOL With a nudge over the edge, they could have been full-on BRs with no problem.

Were they written in a sense that climatic stuff is set in the past? >:| See, I always have indecision on whether or not to consider that BRery, if it's never in actual scenes, just simply a write-in.

No, it happens in the moment IIRC.
