Welcome to the challenge, Chase!

message 3: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Any good suggestions for X and Q? I've been scouring a few lists and it seems most people use the same book for X.

Listopia sometimes has some good ideas. I attached a couple links to their lists below.

Books that begin with X, Y, Z: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

Authors starting with X: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Q is for Quality: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

Below are some of my ideas that I would like to read and some that I've pulled from others. Some of the titles look similar, but the books are different. Hope one of them looks good to you!

X
XO
x0
Xoe: or Vampires, and Werewolves, and Demons, Oh My!
Xingu
Xingu: The Indians, Their Myths
Xor: The Shape of Darkness
The Xeno Solution
Xenocide
Xombies
Author: Xoe Xanders

Q
Queen of Babble
Quest for a Maid
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
Quentins
Queen Lucia
Quartet In Autumn
The Queen and I
Queen of the Oddballs: And Other True Stories from a Life Unaccording to Plan
Q is for Quarry

Another idea that sometimes works for me is to think of a word that starts with the letter that I need (such as Quest for "Q", then type it into the book search box. Then, I just check out the books that fit my need and see if there are any that I like. Good luck!

Tracey Finished Cinder today. I gave it 3 stars.

Tracey Finished Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore today. I gave it 3 stars but the ending really tapered for me.

message 10: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 129 comments I felt the same way about Mr. Penumbra....Hopefully The White Queen will be a better read. Is this your first P.Gregory?

message 11: by Tracey (new)

Tracey This is my first book by Philippa Gregory. I've heard good things so I'm looking forward to this one.

message 12: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 129 comments One of her books that I liked a lot was The Other Boleyn Girl, but I'm hoping to read more of her works soon. Happy reading!

Susan Elizabeth (susan_e_lizabeth) What'd you think of Penumbra? I read that one last year and thought it was really fun. Joyland is on my 2014 list, too.

It was a cute one, but I honestly found myself liking it less and less as it went on. Too much talk about google for me I think.

I hear that's supposed to be better than the White Queen. I look forward to reading that one as well.

It was definitely odd that it had a classic fantasy feel to it, but was grounded in today's technology age.

message 17: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Finished Joyland today. I really enjoyed it.

message 18: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Finished Defiance today. I'll admit it wasn't my type of book. Not a big fan.

Next up is The Goldfinch.

message 19: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Finished The Goldfinch today. That one dragged.

I've seen such conflicting views on Goldfinch, I think I might remove it from my tbr

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Lynn, me too, but some people really loved it. So I am gonna try it, already bought it. When I get to it, hopefully in a couple months, I'll let you know my thoughts.

Thanks Sarah

Tracey I didn't like The Goldfinch, but I do think that there is a better target audience out there that will appreciate it more than me. I didn't like it because it was very detailed and had a slow moving plot for a 700 page book. It was a very deep book though, and when the plot was advancing, it was interesting.

I have it as an audiobook, I wonder if this is a good thing or not (cannot skip over boring paragraphs). I'll let you know later ...

message 25: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Finished the Book Thief today. Was avoiding that one for a long time because I didn't think I would enjoy it. Boy was I wrong... Loved it.

message 26: by Misha (new)

Misha (itz_mie) | 365 comments The Book Thief was a mindblowing book Chase... stupendous

message 27: by Tracey (new)

Tracey I've been having a good selection of books lately. I loved the Ocean at the End of the Lane, the Book Thief, and now The Thirteenth Tale.

message 28: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Finished Rebecca and starting The Notebook today. Starting to get down to those more difficult letters after this!

ally ¯\(ツ)/¯ (allykennedy) | 1002 comments Almost half way! Lots of time to find those tricky letters! Congrats Chase!

message 30: by Susan (new)

Susan Elizabeth (susan_e_lizabeth) The Book Thief was so good! And ditto on The Ocean at the End of the Lane :)

message 31: by Tracey (new)

Tracey How have I not finished the letter "S" until just now? I thought I had finished it awhile ago.

message 32: by Tracey (new)

Tracey I hope Untamed City: Carnival of Secrets counts as a "U" book, because it was originally published as "Carnival of Souls".
