Sarah | 13814 comments I read that too fast...for a second I thought you said Iggy died. Whew.

message 152: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (buckythecat) I DID, TOO!!!

message 153: by Randy (new)

Randy Sorry to jump on this string so late...just finished the 1st page but I have a suggestion for Joni M's new album, Reflexology!

If no one's seen the concert footage on the Led Zeppelin Mothership DVD, it is well worth it. Those songs have been rollin' though my head for a week now! Thanks to my son for getting it for me on Father's Day!

Also, John Hartford's Mark Twang album off of which I heard Sara Watkins solo on Long Hot Summer Days on Prairie Home Companion. She's formally of Nickel Creek who are on hiatus I think.
Last but not least, my wife had Keith Jarrett on our computer and I listened to 3 of his albums 2 nights ago. His humming to his own piano reminds me much of the classical Bach pianist Glenn Gould.

message 154: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Skovmand i would rather mention 5 albums, than 5 songs.
at the time:
tom waits - rain dogs.
ride - going blank again.
the jam - sound affects.
john cale - paris 1919.
iggy pop - the idiot.
these are going on repeat at the time :)

message 155: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (buckythecat) Tonight I'm gonna be listening to Marty Stuart. I do not know if The Fabulous Superlatives will also be in attendance. I fele the need to make my hair big and wear something sparkly.

message 156: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Welcome to TC, Thomas...excellent list.

message 157: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments By the way, Thomas...I checked your profile. Are you really from a place called Middelfart? Because, you know, I'm just not that mature...

message 158: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments *rushes off to check Thomas' profile 'cause I'm not that mature either*

J'adore Satie, Matt! ♥, specifically Gymnopédie.

message 165: by Heidi (last edited Jul 06, 2009 09:55AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments In fact thanks for reminding me of it - I've been listening to my "super relaxing music for work" playlist over the past few days while at the office, and "Gymnopédie 1" & "Gymnopédie 3" are at the top of the list. Sooo dreamy, like a lazy afternoon on a sunpatched and shady river... So I manipulated my list so that I'm listening to "Gymnopédie" first and then again (and possibly a few more times)... and then I'll listen to the rest of my playlist. :)

message 166: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Satie is very important to me. Triggers a lot of recollections.

message 167: by Heidi (last edited Jul 07, 2009 05:46AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments OMG! How did I miss that, Nools!??

ELLA IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE!!!!!! EVER, EVER.

That would make for a dreamy & wonderful soundtrack to your life. :)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Heidi: Ella's pretty cool, yeah. : )

Right now: Supernova by Mr. Hudson, feat. Kanye.

AH, I NEVER listen to this kind of stuff -- except now, obviously. It's kind of terrible, but I can't help myself. So summer. My ears are hooked. It's on repeat.

And I feel like taking off...

message 170: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) Since I cannot get to my poddie (office repairs going on) I am at the mercy of Yahoo Radio.

The Best Thing - Relient K

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments Sound track to A Knights Tale, Good mix of stuff

message 172: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments The new Dodos record, Time To Die. Pretty good, but not as concise as last year's Visiter. Not as much of the driving acoustic sound that I loved so much, more of a singer-songwriter step for the duo.

message 173: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) Let's see if iPoddie makes me blush.

1) Dope Nose - Weezer
2) Big Bang Salmon - Eddie Izzard (not really a song)
3) Irish Medley - Michael Crawford
4) Desert Theme - Lynch's Dune Soundtrack
5) Message in a Bottle - The Police
6) We Belong - Pat Benatar

PHEW! Poddie was kind to me!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Queued up on iTunes DJ:

1) Theme from Hawaii 5-0 - The Whodads
2) Get Together - The Youngbloods
3) My Best Friend's Girl - The Cars
4) Wind of Change - The BeeGees
5) Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet

message 175: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) Gonna have to kick The Cars back onto my Poddie now.

message 176: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments Back on to the shuffle now, let's see if ipod feels like embarrassing me today:

1) Shoulder Holster- Morcheeba (from Big Calm)
2) Curtains- Dntel (from Early Works For Me If It Works For You)
3) Surrounded- Silversun Pickups (from Swoon)
4) Sister Betina 1- Esau Mwamwaya & Radioclit (from The Very Best)
5) Secret Meeting- The National (from Black Session #230)

Nice, that hit nearly all of my favorite sides of music.

message 177: by Meen (last edited Jul 13, 2009 05:07PM) (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I listened to Café de Paris: 25 Grands Succès Français today while driving around to vets' offices to post flyers for the cats I can't take w/me to NYC.

Charles Trenet's "Boum!" might just be the happiest song on Earth:

Boum!

(*goes back to the music nerd corner*)

message 178: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) 1) "Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte" - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi soundtrack (I'm a sucker for Bollywood)
2) "Good Night (Rehearsal)" - The Beatles (off of Anthology number 3)
3) "I'm Finding It Harder To Be a Gentleman" - The White Stripes
4) "Sweet Adeline" - Elliott Smith
5) "Knights of Cydonia live" - Muse

Missing out by one is "Purple" by Ken Nordine. The entire album is him reciting poetry about colors to jazz music; it's awesome.

message 184: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) I loved British MTV! Awesome videos.

message 185: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) I miss Pop Up Video and Bollywood MTV.

I'm listening to Matt and Kim. I'm not quite into them yet. Sometimes it takes me a while to appreciate indie bands.

message 186: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I was addicted to Pop Up Video for a minute there.

Pop Up Video was super cool! It made even the lamest music/video entertaining.

message 189: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I heard this song in Best Buy today and I had to restrain myself from singing and air-guitaring along. They have security cameras in there.

Were you doing a bit of hip dancing to release the pressure building up in your soul, RA?

message 191: by RandomAnthony (last edited Jul 17, 2009 05:21PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I was doing the white guy shoulder-shake thing. It was all I could in that security-driven environment. But I really wanted to rear back and tackle the high-notes while playing air guitar.

message 192: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments Don't look back anthony, don't look back

I am listening to my kids giggling with each other,it's music to my ears anyway

Félix (habitseven) Thanks, dude. Now I have it.

message 198: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Which part? I have the acapella (sp?) opening.

message 199: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That part and the rest of it.

message 200: by [deleted user] (new)

I have Hearts "Barracuda" going through my head if that helps get Abba out of yours.
