I agree, what I meant when I said this could get embarrassing was that spice girls could pop up or snoop dogg, Also favorite Metric song = Combat baby but I like London half life almost as much...almost.
For some weird reason, Radiohead's "Reckoner", off their In Rainbows album, keeps popping up on my iPod. What's weird is that the song is on a massive playlist (over 1,000 songs), yet I'm always hearing that song. Not that I'm complaining; "Reckoner" is probably my favorite Radiohead song.

This morning's playlist so far:
It's Your Thing - Isley Brothers
If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out - Cat Stevens
The Happy Song (Dum-Dum) - Otis Redding
My Baby Just Cares for Me - Nina Simone
My Sweet Lord - George Harrison
Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross
Ocean Man - Ween
Walk In Jerusalem - Mahalia Jackson
Breathe Me - Sia
Jambalaya (On the Bayou) - Hank Williams
La Vie En Rose - Madeleine Peyroux

Blessed to Be a Witness - Ben Harper
Where I Go - Natalie Merchant
Polite Dance Song - The Bird & The Bee
Tiny Dancer - Elton John (makes me think of the bus scene on Almost Famous)
:) Alot of shebang songs made the list, of course...

Every time I hear Joy to the World, I'm reminded of the time I used to work at a law firm. There was this elderly attorney named Gerald Meyer (one of the senior partners whose name was on the letterhead, actually) who called our department. We liked making fun of the way he said his name, which sounded an awful lot like "Jeremiah". Hence, "Gerald Meyer was a bullfrog..."
You had to be there.

I always thought that line was "afraid our eyes might (assumed they left a "be" out of the lyric) becoming pale" - like getting older or going blind, which I thought was a brilliant poetic inference - I NEVER knew that was the lyric, though! :(
I like my version better. I'm going to keep singing it that way.

I have a song with a line "Here comes the sun - like it thinks it shines on everyone" which my mother LOVES but insists is actually "it likes to shine on everyone". I tell her I wrote it, but she says she likes her version and she's sticking to it.

Simply put, three great American rock and roll singles, high-speed crack-ups of three wonderful chords and bubblegum melodies that take me to a place where Hannah Montana, telemarketers, and help desk operators in India can’t get inside my head. If any of them don't leave you grinning like an idiot, there's a hole in your soul somewhere.
Unfortunately, it all fell on deaf, dumb, dimwit ears in Radio Land, where most clueless programmers still refused to believe the sun had finally set on the Summer of Love. Somebody get Jesse Ventura on the horn. I think I have an idea for the next episode of his new show.

You wouldn't trust my wife then, RA. She simply LOATHES the Ramones, for the stupidest reason possible; she can't get past how ugly they were. But I am getting my revenge; I'm teaching my daughter the "Hey-ho, let's go!" chant, just to piss Jaime off...
All great rock n' roll has been written and performed by ugly-looking people. That's a fact.

Not just Pete. Hell, Keith Richards is pretty hard on the eyes.
And Iggy Pop.
And Patti Smith.

Speaking of Keef, I have this bootleg DVD of a show he did in 1993 in Boston with the Expensive Winos. Now that he's finally completed the transformation to a cross between the cryptkeeper from HBO's "Tales From the Crypt," Boris Karloff as Im-ho-tep, and the rotting corpse of Bette Davis, it's hard to believe we all thought he looked so bad 17 years ago. In the DVD, he looks downright dewy.
Dewy or not, Keef will probably outlive all of us.

And Lemmy.
And Lemmy.

Lemmy and Keef will be the only survivors of the impending man-made apocalypse. And hilarity will ensue.
Sounds to me like the makings of a great road movie.

It would have to be subtitled.

Now that's something I'd love to see. Over a warm six-pack and some bong hits. Memo to myself: find out where my wife hid my Motorhead t-shirt.

You oughta be ashamed RA. And besides, they're warts, not moles. And there are more than one. Let's try to keep it above board, alright?

I hear you.
Please don't tell me you listen to "Ace of Spades" while soaking in that frou-frou bubble bath you fancy...:)

I assumed you would've saved Winger for these moments, RA.

Nothing embarrassing about any of those picks, Heather. Metric is a damned fine, very under-appreciated band whom I like greatly. It took a while, but their last album finally grew on me; Sick Muse has been popping up on my iPod a lot lately.
