Sarah | 13814 comments Ticket procedures just suck in general for big shows. All the stupid fees, and the scalpers. This show sold out in about fifteen minutes, and there are already jerks selling their tickets for double their face value on craigslist.

message 802: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments More excited, if this is actually true: "Update: Live Nation has announced: "In addition to the extensive catalogue of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band hits, both DC and Baltimore evenings will consist of Born to Run being performed in its entirety!"

Stephen (stephenT) Heidi wrote: "I'd love to see him in concert. I haven't, though. About 10 years ago, he came to Little Rock and had one concert... and rumor was he was pissed that the box office jacked the prices up so high t..."

Venues do not inflate prices, promoters inflate the prices. A venue cannot do anything to ticket price. Whatever agency brought him to town is the one that inflated the price. The box offices sells at the price they are given. I did this for twenty years.

Sarah | 13814 comments I think Heidi's point is that the tickets were more expensive than Bruce intended, and now she doesn't get to see him perform Born to Run in its entirety because of his boycott of Little Rock.

But I do :) :) :) :)

message 805: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) box office jacked the prices

I just want to clarify how that all works. It's more convenient for the press to say it's the box office, but the box office is just a land of lizard drones who never see the sunshine, work on their feet 80 hours a week, and bear the brunt of every ticket holders personal anger.

message 806: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) What's worst of all! Was working for the Ballet. You wouldn't think so, but I nearly got in a fist fight over why I wasn't going to give a guy his money back when he was late for a performance of the Nutcracker. Contrary to popular thought, when you are on stage, throwing a woman up in the air, a door opening and light flashing from an unexpected place can result in said woman crashing to the floor with rather spectacular breaking of bones. The dude dancer then is known as a ballerina dropper. The curtain comes down, and people get PISSED OFF.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments KD goes mid-eighties crossover!

message 808: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I'm just going to come out and say it.

I really like Taylor Swift's music.

That is all.

message 809: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) You had to come out to say that? I thought we were free to like whatever the hell we wanted? In that case,

I come out and say I like the music of Frescobaldi. Yeah, go look that up, you tarts.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments "Couln't Stand the Weather" - Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's drippy and cold today. Waah! Someone call me a wambulance!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments :::hugs KD, runs away fast:::

message 812: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Stevie Ray died in Wisconsin, not far from where Jim lives...

message 813: by [deleted user] (new)

He died near East Troy which is a little over an hour east of here.

message 814: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Is Mudhoney still around? I haven't bought an album of theirs since Superfuzz Bigmuff. "Touch Me I'm Sick" is still a great song to blast.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments "S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in my pants)" - Phineas and Ferb soundtrack. I swear, I have the weirdest job sometimes...

message 816: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Phineas and Ferb is kind of funny, though. And Ashley Tisdale does Candace's voice. Not that I watch or anything:)

message 817: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Indeed, R.I.P Stevie.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments King Dinösaur wrote: "Did Jackie just hug me...?!"

'Fraid so, KD.

Félix (habitseven) Jimi!

Stephen (stephenT) Screamin' Jay Hawkins - "Voodoo Jive"

GREAT cover

message 821: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I'm on a big early Van Halen kick lately.

Listen...I love Beethoven, Brahms, whatever...but "Dance The Night Away" might lift my spirits more than any three and a half minutes of recorded music in existence.

message 822: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) "Dan the Night Away?" Wasn't that the BeeGees?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No, that's "You Should Be Dancing," Stephen.

message 824: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Someone go to Youtube and he'p us now.

message 825: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) You should be dancing, Stephen.

message 826: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm never going to dance again. Guilty feet have got no rhythm.

message 827: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm slipping back into the '80s now ....

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Wait, is that a quote from "Careless Whisper", Sarah?

message 829: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "Wait, is that a quote from "Careless Whisper", Sarah?"

It is a Careless Whisper lyric. Yes. :)

message 830: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Um, maybe... but it came back to bite me, and is now firmly lodged in my head.

message 831: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Instant karma's gonna get you.

message 832: by Heidi (last edited Oct 05, 2009 11:14AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments QUICK! Sarah...

And I’m too sexy for Milan/too sexy for Milan, New York, and Japan

:)

Did that help?

No?

How about this one?

Or even better... THIS one

message 833: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Aie! The songs that get stuck in the head. Heidi is Dr. Evil-Song-Sticker today.

Although, I do like the too sexy song.

message 834: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Thanks a lot, Heidi. Luckily, I'm impervious to youtube while at work.
Larry succeeded with some instant karma, though. Much better.

And we all shine on...

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Oh, GREAT. Just great. Now I'm going to be saying "Rico... SUAVE" all day. Thanks, Heidi.
sigh

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments John Denver is for homesickness.

Also got some moody Goldspot on the side.

message 837: by [deleted user] (new)

In case any one needs a good laugh today.

Bless them for trying, but they shouldn't have.

message 838: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) LOL their choir director should be flogged.

message 839: by Seizure Romero (new)

Seizure Romero | 99 comments Right now I'm in the library listening to "Pride and Joy" bounce around the empty head of the person two tables away who has the earphones turned way up. Soon I'll be listening to that annoying Delilah broad spew treacle on "Warm 106.9"-- I hate the station, but that's what they play at the pho restaurant. Go figure.
Finally, if this isn't an album cover, it should be (for the most awesome band ever):

Soup time!

message 840: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I'm sure you'd love to do the flogging, Stephen...

message 841: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Matt wrote: "I'm sure you'd love to do the flogging, Stephen..."

lol Not really, it's exhausting work. Don't you feel he should undergo some sort of punishment for making that choir look so incredibly stupid?

message 842: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Heh. I was just looking for someone on our member list and noticed that KD has posted 666 times in TC since joining. We should do something to commemorate the milestone.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments

Rock on, KD!

message 846: by Stephen (new)
