Seriously?! I deleted posts by him the other day AND reported him for spamming other groups I am in in the same manner. I have removed his latest post -- thanks!

I hate when they keep making new accounts as you have to ban each one separately once you identify them. The known ID of David has been banned. Post here if you find a new ID of the same spammer so we can ban that as well.

I am being dead serious. Well... I'm not sure how serious the dead actually are. They're expressions tend toward ambivalence, really, and I'm certainly not saying that I'm "ambivalently serious". Or maybe, "death serious", since most people take death more seriously than the dead take it. Though I don't suspect that "death serious" would catch on.

Barb Not an author promo post, but definitely one that seems out of place where it is: Reviews. It's also posted in the Introduce Yourself thread, with one minor change.

It's still very much a promo post though, I went to their site, they wish authors to contact them for details and "pricing" for their services. Personally, I would not want to read a book that had been "promoted" by someone via spamming groups, just sayin'.

And the same post is also in:
-Featured Authors Master List
-Featured Authors Suggestions Needed
-Authors Who Have Joined Our Group (twice!)
and the last four posts by Authors Needing Help requesting reviewers....

It's there -- under "Reading Challenges." Remember that only the top five discussions or starred topics are shown on the main group board. Sometimes you have to actually go into the appropriate section/folder to find what you are looking for. '-)

Oops! Thank you, Heather, and I am a bit embarrassed! I clicked into the folder, and there it was. I think I got confused because the Spring Challenge was on the main group board until a few days ago... Thanks again, and for all the work you put into this group. It's really fun!

Thanks Heather for getting to it. I was busy this past weekend. My eldest son graduated from the local community college with an Associates of Applied Science degree majoring in Drafting and Design Technology and he graduated with honors. We through a big bash bbq with lawn games and a firepit to celebrate. Plus we had 2 birthdays over the last week (middle son turned 17 and passed his driver's exam, and my father turned 77).

Hey everyone,

I have had several people contact me regarding July challenges and Featured Author thread this week, both here and privately. I just want to remind you all that the moderators DO have lives and jobs outside the boards, and I have been working overtime the last couple weeks. My area has also been plagued with severe storms this week with some power outages/service disruptions. While I do try to get the challenges/author thread up at least a week in advance of the start date, that is not always possible, and your patience is appreciated.

Heather

I was thinking that we could feature the Agatha Award nominees one month a year in place of the Featured Cozy Author.

message 180: by Barb (new)

Barb I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I couldn't find anywhere else. A lot of cozy authors write under more than one name, and I know I have a hard time remembering to check for pen names, etc. Is there a folder/thread anywhere in this group that lists this information? If not, could one be created when time allows?

The website Stop, You're Killing Me is really good about listing all the noms de plume an author has. I know it would be nicer to have it all in one place, but absent that, it's good to know where to find a good list otherwise.

message 182: by Barb (new)

Barb Lynn wrote: "The website Stop, You're Killing Me is really good about listing all the noms de plume an author has."

Thanks for the reminder, Lynn, I'd forgotten about that. But there, you have to check each author individually, which gets tedious after a very short time :)

I know it can be difficult to remember author pseudonyms, but I'm afraid compiling such a list would be a very time-consuming task.

message 186: by Courtny (new)

Courtny (courtagonist) I have a quick question. I am starting a Cozy Mystery type of series on my Youtube channel, and I would love to have some feed back from people who love Cozy Mysteries as well. Is it okay for me to post a link to my "What is a Cozy Mystery?" video and people can comment and let me know what they want to see?

I'm putting this here as well as the Self-Promotion feed, because I'm not an author, so I wasn't sure where to put it. Thank you in advance!

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments I have a new book released this week and it will be advertised tomorrow on a book blog. Is it permissible to put the blog address under the 'cozy blog/books' posts here? It fits the cozy criteria, of course.

I have, Heather, several times, and I hate to be dense. But how to start my own advertising thread under the correct heading puzzles me, and I certainly don't want to tread on anyone else's. I did that, innocently, sometime ago, and don't want to do it again.

Scroll down the main group page until you find the "Self-Promotion and Giveaways" folder. Click into it. At top right there is a link to start a new topic. Fill in the blanks.

MaryJo Dawson | 857 comments Dear Heather.
There is a small group of us who used to meet on the Amazon cozy forum, that are wondering if it is appropriate to open up a thread here. It would be under the heading, "chatting with friends who love a cozy mystery." We would share favorite book titles, but would also like the freedom to venture out onto our daily lives a bit. Of course anyone would be welcome to join us, using the same rules for the other discussion group concerning behavior.
Is this a possibility?
Also, we would like this group to include those who write under this genre as well, so it would be open for authors.

Hi MaryJo,

I'm going to pass your question on to the group owner (my co-moderator). As for authors wanting to participate, we do have a separate section here for authors, Cozy Authors, and anyone is welcome to post there so long as they follow the group guidelines for authors/promotions.

Heather

MaryJo,

That is fine. I think folks might like that. Please create your thread in the Off Topic discussion folder as I think that's best place to put it, as a lot of what you'll talk about may be off topic (ie personal).

You can choose any book by this author that you want to read! We don't pick just a certain one as some are farther along in a series than the first book.

Heather L (wordtrix) | 27537 comments Mod
Hi Juanita,

What Melody said. We don't do a "book of the month," we do a "featured author," which allows people to choose any book they would like by that author. Some people will be new to an author or series, some will be farther along in a series than others. We only post the first book in an author's series (or couple of series) on the home page as a way to highlight the month's featured author.

Juanita (jwilson1152) Thank you. Murder on Astor Place was on my "To Read" list for some time so time to pull it out and read!

Do members post books that they suggest or may be of interest to other members? I went to bookshelf and there are a lot of my favorite cozy series on there so I knew this group was right for me.

Thanks again,
Juanita

There are different messages like this, around the group and at different folders, some the right ones and some not. I'm beginning to feel it a bit like spam. Sorry if I'm wrong.
