Anna M. Watson | 66 comments haha Oh impatience. I've had to squash that a few times.

Yeah, I've gotta work on that a bit. I know I always think my work could be better. At this point though, I'm almost finished the novel I'm working on. Just have a few scenes to change/add/remove, then to go through the whole thing and fix little things, then send it off to test-readers.

Go through a service called CreateSpace Central, Amazon owns it. So, whatever you publish on CreateSpace, your book will be distributed by Amazon.

I think that's for a physical copy of the book, but mine is only 30 sum pages, so I figure I won't do that until it's actually long enough to be worth a physical copy

message 458: by Anna (new)

Anna M. Watson | 66 comments Yeah, I've heard of createspace. It's supposed to be pretty good. If/when I publish, I'll probably look into it. I have lots of options. I think I'll try for traditional publishing first, just because it's the easiest in regards to marketing. But like you, Michael, I'm not in it for the money. I just want people to read it. :)

oh god I hate marketing lol the whole advertising aspect is just a downside for me haha it's pretty hard for me since I'm not all too good at promoting my own work. give me someone else's book and i'll be up a person's ass to read it, give me my own book i'll be all "yeah...I got a book....if you want to read it....yeahhh..." XD

message 460: by Anna (new)

Anna M. Watson | 66 comments Yep, it's hard. And I understand you have to market whether you self-publish or not, but at least there are people to help out in traditional pub. :P

Self-pub.

Michael Benavidez Anna wrote: "Yep, it's hard. And I understand you have to market whether you self-publish or not, but at least there are people to help out in traditional pub. :P"
very true, with traditional pub they publishers normally already have a fanbase so that helps them writer's as well,
which is why I still try for traditional then I go to self-publishing haha

It's pretty good.

message 464: by Anna (new)

Anna M. Watson | 66 comments I guess the problem with trad pub is that you end up with deadlines and they can change lots of stuff without you knowing, and you have basically no say in anything. Generally. With big publishers anyway.

I'm not too excited about marketing either, but the createspace team helps out alot.

Michael Benavidez Anna wrote: "I guess the problem with trad pub is that you end up with deadlines and they can change lots of stuff without you knowing, and you have basically no say in anything. Generally. With big publishers ..."
true, but I guess that's good depending on the writer. some people work better with deadlines, other (like myself) rather do better with freestyling it at their own pace and what not.
which is why I think it's better now that self publishing is actually an acceptable place to get one's book, while also traditional is still the main course. it helps for both writers alike

message 467: by Anna (new)

Anna M. Watson | 66 comments Yes, I like that self-publishing is seen as legit now. :)

message 468: by Michael (new)

Michael Benavidez Anna wrote: "Yes, I like that self-publishing is seen as legit now. :)"

but really hard to get people to really look your way that aren't family and such, not many people really give newbies too much of a chance or anything, either that or my preview just sucks XD

message 469: by Anna (new)

Anna M. Watson | 66 comments Do you have your preview up? I'll take a look and see if I can give you some feedback if you want.

Michael Benavidez Anna wrote: "Do you have your preview up? I'll take a look and see if I can give you some feedback if you want."

I have the amazon preview on well amazon, but better yet if you'd like, I can find a way to give it to you for free (if you know how to do that, I'd be delighted to know lol)
mostly because (as I learned a tad bit late) the first story is a kind of experimental style that has turned people off as a bit

by paranormal do you mean just horror in general? or the whole hauntings and exorcisms sub-genre? either way those are pretty awesome genres I'm barely getting into mystery/crime books so I'm not too in touch with them

Jim Vuksic Hello,

I'm Jim.
I prefer to read rather than watch television or listen to the radio; though I do all three.
There is one novel floating around the marketplace of which I happen to be the author.
Looking forward to becoming acquainted.
