Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments To confirm the group get-together :

Stratton House Hotel
London Road
Biggleswade
Bedfordshire
SG18 8ED
Telephone: 01767 312442
Fax: 01767 600163
Email: info@strattonhouse-hotel.com

The hotel is five minutes walk from Biggleswade Railway Station.
Exit station.
Turn Right.
Continue to High Street.
Turn Right.
Continue ahead. Cross railway bridge,
Stratton House Hotel is fifty yards up on the left. You can't miss it, but if you go past The Red Lion you have!

The date is Saturday 8th February 2014
at 2PM

We managed to keep going until 6pm last year and the venue was kind enough to allow us to loiter for some time after our official end time.

Sandwiches will be provided for the afternoon free of charge and bar snacks are available all day.

Hotel rooms are generally available at weekends and there is parking behind the hotel.

I expect the evening will involve beer and food. The city of Biggleswade boasts many fine Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants (clears throat). For anyone with a sense of adventure there is live music on Saturday night.

I'm not a beer drinker. I'll probably stick to cider.

message 208: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments I'll stick to anything - just got to work out what to say. Thinking of taking some pics of Tollesbury and putting them on my laptop and maybe a bit about how I got the idea. Anything else?

message 209: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments oh and maybe read out a little section, who knows?

What did people do last year?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Tim read a chapter of his book and then answered questions about it.

message 211: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Ah ok! Maybe I'll do that! I think maybe the chapter where Simon gives up drink may be a good one.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Be careful that our Simon doesn't think its aimed at him... ;)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Stu, here's the link as Mary isn't about.

You have to remember that the piece is to be read aloud (duh! it's radio!) and they don't want much dialogue as a result.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Help if I included the link, wouldn't it?

Just don't fly on a TU-54. Did that once. Don't know what was more distressing, the crew redistributing us around the cabin to "balance the plane for takeoff" or the smell of jet fuel permeating the cabin!

Just tell everyone you know a guy who may kill them if they don't read your books!

Weight & balance is critical in all aircraft. Several well documented cases of planes crashing on takeoff because of too much weight down the back. The pong of jet fuel in the cabin might have given me pause for thought though...
