message 102: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments In the absence of brownies and bacon, I can offer some of Sir's home-made sloppy chilli jam to go on the sandwiches.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I might have a go at making something!!!! Won't be anywhere near as delish as DD's were but may just hit the choc spot!!
I should really think about booking my room as i go away next week til 17th Jan so that'll leave it a tad late!!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave rang the Stratton today to book us a room for the 24th and 25th.

Seems they're shut this year.

Bugger.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments So where are you going to stay - on Simon's couch?

Last time I met him I was unable to drink as I was driving!! I have no excuse this time :-)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I've got my room booked too :D

Really sorry you won't be there Patti

message 115: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Yeah, I am proper gutted Patti won't be there too. That was one of the highlights for me last time was finally meeting our lovely Patti! Felt like I had known her all my life to be honest xx

message 116: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments plenty of time to meet up again Patti - as for the rest of you who are staying please bare in mind I'm something of an insomniac and I'll be there from 2pm!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I'll have been up since sparrow fart to catch the first of three trains so I don't know how long I'll last! Plus I'm catching a train at 9 the following morning...

message 118: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments I'm hoping to be there from start-up - about 12-ish, anyway - until about 6pm. So bags me first bask at talking to Stu. All you stayer-overers can chat to him in the bar for hours after we've gone.

But it won't be the same without Patti. Can't you fly in for the weekend, Patti?

message 119: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments Hmm. What did I mean when I typed 'bask'? I knew I shouldn't have started on the white.

message 120: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments my voice kind of gets a bit loud after a few drinks so I don't think people will have a choice but to hear me! What can we do to get you over Patti????

message 121: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I drove past the turning for Biggleswade on my way up. Wish I could come but it's just a bit far to go :( Maybe another time!! :)

message 122: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'd truly love to come but I don't think Simon could afford another evening with me so soon.

message 123: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments A caution for anyone looking for a place to enjoy a meal whilst in bwade.

Simon and my reviews should be easy to spot, I think.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh dear that sounds very disappointing!

message 125: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Only the meal was disappointing.

Spending time with Simon was lovely, as usual. I hope one day to spend enough time with him!

message 126: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments As the date gets closer it would nice to have a list of who's going. Well there's me...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I'll be there :)

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments It's probably time to resurrect this subject now my turkey has settled. It's useful to get an idea of numbers and a couple of volunteers to speak... If you can offer a ten to fifteen minute discussion starter please PM me.

message 129: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments I'm still planning on going.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm planning to be there, but I need to do some. Planning, that is...

message 131: by Sam (new)

Sam Kates I haven't booked my train ticket yet, but the hotel room is booked so I have every intention of being there, even if it does mean missing the Wales-Ireland game on TV. Ah well, that's what Sky+ is for.

message 132: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments my room is booked too. Just hope the campervan gets me there!

message 133: by Debbie (new)

Debbie McGowan (debbiemcgowan) | 245 comments Just looked at the trains, thinking it would be really tough to get there from where I am, but it's not! Going to look into the money/work situation and see if it's doable.

message 134: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I have a horrible feeling I'm elsewhere that weekend, my dad is 82 on 7th February so I may have to be in Sussex, instead. Still hoping to make it if I can though as it's a short hop from here.

Cheers

MTM

Pete Carter (petecarter) | 522 comments Hi - Can I come? Promise I won't say anything - I'll just sit there and laugh. Bev - how do I get from Sandy to Biggleswade without using the Circle line?

message 141: by Emma (new)

Any problems with your van Stu just let me know and I'll come pick you up x

Oh daddy dearest... I suppose you can come with me. If you promise not to criticise my inability to park neatly. Whoever decided parking was an art form anyway? Grind to a halt and get out. That's my motto. If I hear anything along the lines of 'could have got a double decker bus in there,' you'll be walking home. And as for you sitting quietly? I'll believe that when I don't hear it.

message 143: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh cripes.

You lot have NO IDEA how much it's eating me up that I can't be there!

Hah! Will do! Might just be handy to have it in the car park though in case I get thrown out... ;-)

message 145: by Sam (new)

Sam Kates Stuart, you do things that get you thrown out of hotels? I'll have to bring my camcorder...

message 146: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments it's been known! But I'm sure I'll in perfectly well behaved adult company for once...

I thought I could just sit in the corner with a pint and say 'Oo-arr' occasionally, so the lads from London really knew they were in the countryside. But if you're driving, forget the pint and make that a double whiskey!
