I've started this one and I'm really enjoying it - although I think I might come back bout every 100 pages or so unless something big happens. (6 chapters is only about 50 pages and this book is longer....)

I'm liking it, though. It wasn't what I thought it would be about...

I'm going to the zoo today and then I'll come back and post more :)

Vicki-Yeah my husband watches those too. I'm usually on the couch with him but either reading or on my lap top.

Trisha- Have fun at the zoo today! I haven't gotten very far in this one I do have some good news though the buddy read we started Mid Dec. I'm almost done with :)

I do like Rachel's character so far. I loved the scene when she (view spoiler)[ showed up in her car and wanted to race. LOL Having brothers to protect you is good, but all the guys are scared to even talk to her for fear of retribution? Too funny! Probably better that she had that problem of the car stopping at the start than Isaiah. He'd never live it down. LOL (hide spoiler)]

Okay, I was finally able to read last night and today, and I read through ch. 16.

Why is it that in these books. and probably in real life, people (view spoiler)[ assume that they already know what others are thinking of them? I mean Isaiah assumes that Rachel thinks he is a punk, and Rachel assumes he thinks she's a rich snob. LOL That drives me nuts! (hide spoiler)]

Colleen: (view spoiler)[ It's so hard to live in the shoes of a dead person! That's so unfair to Rachel, but I wonder if this is another assumption she is making. But the way her mother and her friends compare Sydney to Colleen is heartbreaking and wrong. (hide spoiler)]

Sydey: (view spoiler)[ Where do you find a 17 year old girl today that hasn't had her first kiss? I love that though...wish girls would wait until they are at least 17 to get involved in that way. Too many boys are like Rachel's brothers and Isaiah and simply care about one thing. (hide spoiler)]

I'm struggling through it and I hate that I am. I love Isaiah but I think I am suffering from NA/YA contemporary burn-out. :( out of 83 books I read last year I think 80 of them were NA/ YA contemporary romances. :( Going to try to read some different genres for a while and hopefully I will begin to enjoy this genre again.

no worries! I totally agree, I get burn-out too
and this one didn't have that "wow" factor either - nothing really drew me in to keep me reading.

I think I am liking thus better that Emily, but I am not sure how far along she is. I've had little time to read the past two days. I'm 44% done.

Rachel: (view spoiler)[I don't think she has a CLUE how horrible Eric really is. I still feel for her living in her dead sister's shadow! Her parents need to ease up on that. NOBODY can fill a dead person's shoes! I am afraid her world will come crashing down on her when she tries to keep up with her mom's fundraising campaigns. She needs to get her head out of her butt and just talk with Isaiah and see what his deal is. WHY do people always assume the worst. She's mad because he didn't call, but she won't ask him why. Well, she did but BETH showed up. (hide spoiler)]

Isaiah: (view spoiler)[ He just has the most awful luck! I'm not sure how I feel about Courtney or Mrs. Collins and his entire foster situation. I figure (if I remember correctly) that they are pretty bad foster parents if they are keeping the money and letting him live wherever. Abby: (view spoiler)[ I must say that I do NOT like drug dealers; however, that is not the sum total of that person. Someone who does wrong things can have redeeming qualities. I'm glad that Rachel still likes her and realizes that the drug dealer part of Abby isn't what makes her. Maybe Rachel can help her see a way out. (hide spoiler)]

Isaiah: (view spoiler)[ I felt so bad for him when he went to see his mom for cash. He really is hurt deep, deep down. I understand where he's coming from. No one would be that angry, rude, smart mouthed, etc. without being hurt beyond belief. I hope that he can make up with his mother and have a decent relationship with her eventually. I love how protective Isaiah is of Rachel, but he can't guarantee he can always keep her safe! (hide spoiler)]

Rachel: (view spoiler)[ I am glad that Isaiah loves her, faults and all because she really got a bad rap! Her brothers have said some pretty damaging to her self-esteem things. When she told Ethan and West that she never asked for any of what she was dealt, Ethan's response was, "...that's why West and I pity you instead of hate you." That's HORRIBLE to say! It's like they only PITY her? That would have really crushed me. (hide spoiler)]

it is FREEZING here (coldest weather in 10 years!) and the kids are still home (they shut down schools because they are worried about the temperatures and kids at bus stops)
but I just got the approval to move my youngest daughter to on-line school, so I'm juggling setting up her space - I'm so excited!! :D

You know what? I think you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly the same problem I had. I liked the book, but (view spoiler)[ I just felt that much of what happened wouldn't have happened that way and the characters also didn't feel real to me. (hide spoiler)] But I still liked it.
