Nataliette | 2 comments Hi, I am trying to find this book that I read as a child about 12-15 years ago which is a collection of short horror/ghost/scary/spooky stories by 2 authors. The stories in the book are sectioned into categories such as Vanishing Tales (not sure if that's the exact term). That's the only one I remember.

I also think the cover is purple in colour, but I could have mistaken it for another book.

I remember 2 stories from the book though.

First story I remember is about a fisherman who fished a hair barrette out of the sea. It was entangled in some hair. He brought it home to let it dry to give to his wife or something, and hung it by the fireplace. All night the barrette dripped, dripped, dripped water. (Can't remember how it ended but basically the barrette kept dripping water and never dried.)

Second story probably belonged in the vanishing tales category, because it was about a dude who went up an abandoned lighthouse to kill himself, but the next day all that was found of him was his wallet that dropped to the ground and nothing else.

The book was sold at one of the several book fairs held in my school when I was 12 I think. However the stories, even if meant for children, were quite serious in tone and very chilling.

It was one of my most treasured books from my childhood, would really appreciate if anyone would have ANY clues whatsoever to help!!!

I really can't remember, perhaps about 10 per section I think? And total of maybe 5 or so sections? I really can't say for sure though...
